Egyptian Referee Mohamed Farouk has been suspended for using a spectator's mobile phone to disallow a goal. BBC website article below.

Ingenious and funny but not in accordance with the rules and protocols I imagine. I wonder what the previous Head of Refereeing in Egypt, one Mark Clattenburg, would have done about it. May be talking a load of tosh, but did we not have a similar example in the EFL some while ago when a 4O was thought to have looked at a replay on a monitor before talking to the ref?

I remember when John Moss asked Martin Atkinson if he had anything from the TV (Pre VAR) during his shambles with Eddie Smart over a penalty decision /offside or not

There was a Romanian referee sacked, earlier this season, for doing the same
