Returning to a well-worn theme, about being able to hear what the officials' discussion is real-time, one can only assume that the decision to rescind the red card was taken by a panel which had access to audio. There doesn't seem to be much disagreement that Andersen's foul was DOGSO (I couldn't see any defenders close enough) so it would seem that Xmas came early for Fulham/Andersen - the panel agreeing that the penalty award was incorrect as contact inside the area was minimal after the initial foul outside the area. Argument along the lines of "Fulham probably should have conceded a goal but not by a penalty, so let's be kind & let their player off his red card". Not what'd you expect in professional sport. Scott is left hung out to dry along with his VAR. Not holding my breath about similar instances recurring in 2021 - VAR & on-field refereeing consistency still represent the Holy Grail.
I guess argument that advantage was effectively played from first foul as officials awarded penalty for the challenge inside the box?
I think it would be hard for the appeals panel to justify saying it shouldn't have bene a penalty but should have been a red card, based on the decision that was made.
