Merry Christmas!
« on: Thu 24 Dec 2020 08:52 »
May I take this opportunity to wish all our RTR contributors and readers a Merry Christmas. I realise that tomorrow will be anything but merry for many people, however I hope you will accept my sentiments in the way I have intended. The road ahead may be rocky still, but let us all look forward to a better time in 2021.

It is certainly going to be a very different one this year. I can't be where I would normally be as Hungary's borders are closed to the UK completely - can't even sneak in via Serbia or Romania as their borders are closed to the UK as well! I did consider having myself couriered out there as unaccompanied freight but... Mr bmb and I have settled for a Christmas via Skype, it is what it is and we, like everyone else, will make the best of it. It could be far worse, there have been periods in our history where thousands of young men have been huddled cold and scared in a trench somewhere praying both sides in a war hold a day long ceasefire.

If any of you are struggling alone, my private messages on here are open. Feel free to message me or use the email function to contact me. We can always whatsapp or Skype if you need someone to talk to so you feel less alone. Just don't wear yellow if Skyping me! ;)

Hoping all our members have the best day they possibly can. Roll on 2021, it has to be better than 2020!

I'd like to take the time as well to say thank you to all of our members for another great year of contributions, whether we agree or not, the debate is enjoyable and I appreciate each and every one of you.

Also a huge thank you to my wonderful admin team on here, who keep things running smoothly and within the law! You might not always agree with their edits but I will always back them 100%, this forum would be a much poorer place without them. Thank you Charlie, Mackem, Herts, Flip, Edy and aaa for all the appointments work he undertakes. You guys are awesome.

Boldog karácsonyt és boldog új évet from the bmb household

Happy Christmas everyone. It will certainly be different this year but different doesn't have to mean worse. Sad for us Tier 4ers not to be able to meet up with dispersed family and friends but peace and joy may still be found and I remind myself that compared with so many communities in the world, we are extremely fortunate. Let's hope 2021 brings tidings of comfort and joy for us all.

My Christmas is always strange from a family point of view because one son serves in the RAF and the other is a Paramedic in London so every year there is always one of them working and we either have a visit from one or we visit them.
This year, the Paramedic is working as is his wife, a GP in Sheffield and the other son is out in the Middle East for 6 months on RAF Operations and will not be home until May.
The problem is that his wife, a type 1 diabetic with only one kidney, is on her own in Telford and her son, also a type 1 diabetic who lives on his own in High Wycombe is not able to visit because he lives in a Tier 4 area.

Anyway, life goes on and Christmas will happen in an unusual fashion so may I wish all contributors on here a very Merry Christmas and a hope that 2021 will see things gradually return to some sort of normality ---whatever that may be!
Referee's decision used to be final!

Merry Christmas to all the RTR members. I wish you and your families to be safe.

It's a difficult moment for all of us but I believe that we can manage it.
