Match of The Day
« on: Sat 11 Mar 2023 18:20 »
Taking all political things out of the situation.

Is anyone else excited for a pundit free Match of The Day where you can enjoy the highlights without listening to inadequate knowledge about referee’s in between games!!!

Is it going to be more footage and same time or a reduced episode?

It's only on for 20 minutes

I enjoy reading all the HYS comments on the BBC website after matches.. and sometimes throw in the odd comment or two.

However, for all the games today, none have opened, and all of yesterday’s were locked shut in very brisk fashion after the media frenzy surrounding Lineker.

I for one hope this mess is sorted sharpish before unilateral damage is done to the reputation of “auntie”.

damage? more of a clarification.  The BBC have shown their true colours to everyone whether they were already aware or not.

Gary Lineker back next weekend. Sensible in my view to find a solution although I did enjoy this last weekend's 2 x 20 minutes offerings!

Has var intervened and reduced the sanction to a yellow card from a red, or perhaps it was in the orange category.
Maybe lineker won his appeal either way it appears he and his colleagues have won the game by virtue of an own goal by the bbc.

With the live f a cup qfs this coming weekend they had to sort things out amicably.

Overall I think I would prefer matches without presenters/pundits/summary and interviews - and just enjoy the match for what it is but obviously most people would probably disagree

Agreed but Commentators are very helpful for the blind.

I read on Twitter (yes, yes I know about the accuracy levels on there...) that there is a question as to whether they have breached the disability act by broadcasting it with no sound at all, so potentially more backlash coming their way and this time from a legal point of view.

Yes I agree and much to my shame I had not thought about that  and my apologies if I have offended anyone

A good commentator can really enhance a game for me whereas a pundit has never given me anything other than a mild sense of annoyance . More football action on MOTD and less talking about the action would be good.

I am pleased to see Lineker back and absolutely defend his right to air an opinion though I hope the new memorandum of understanding he will have with the BBC bans those less than subtle puns with which he invariably closes the programme.

The pundits and personalities enhance the show for many people who have just a passing interest in the actual football and even less in the refereeing and therefore broaden the viewing population. They do nothing for me, but I can understand why they're there.
