My opinion would be that referees should never give something that they can’t be sure of. If you’re guessing and gift someone something you’re making it up. This leaves you open to all sorts of different criticism from within the game.

I would strongly argue that you’re better to not give one that’s gone in but you can’t be sure of than to give a goal that factually never crossed the goal line as you have then given something that never happened? Lesser of two evils I would say
