No dodgy penalty despite Martials embarrassing effort
No relying on help from VAR
No extended Fergie time
No final

Your bitterness against United seems to have no limit Hendo.  Why not just focus on your own team's good performance?  As a United fan, I say well done City. They deserved to win on the night and I've no complaints about Martin Atkinson who I thought refereed the game well.  No surprise that Fernandinho and Fred were among the yellow cards.

If the first isnt a nailed on yellow card, we will NEVER eliminate diving.
Fernandes also seems to be exempt from yellow cards too, despite trying to influence others receiving them.

Good steady performance from Atkinson, justified his appointment.

Guess the fourth official at wembley will be looking forward to his big day out!

O come now, over the years City supporters criticising referees on here have had to put up with  "you are only complaining because you didn't get the result you wanted" or "you never comment on good performances" type responses.  So I think that you could show a bit more graciousness at a bit of gentle ribbing - after all we City supporters had to put up with a few decades of being the second best team with Manchester in it's title - and the banner declaring how long it was since we had won a trophy.

I'd agree with Claretman on Martial where I think Atkinson did football a disservice, though I can think of one referee who would likely have given the penalty; one who recently gave United a penalty for a similarly soft touch.  I'd also have added McTominay to Fernandez and felt Shaw should have received a card along with Cancelo for what was clearly a retataliation.

As for the game itself, despite City's dominance in possession, the first half could have gone either way; in the second half United seemed to fade a bit, perhaps having expended a lot of effort chasing the ball in the first half.  Overall (and even disregarding the result) it was a considerable improvement as a game than the previous dreary offering that these two put up.
