Totally agree with the decision to not award the penalty... but when are officials going to stop allowing players to chase after them?

Glad you agree because I don't - seeing the reply looks a penalty to me - ball travels some distance.  In my view should be a penalty to city.

To be fair, I will hold my hands up... and after seeing it from a different angle I don’t understand how it’s not been given.... VAR screen anywhere?

Why is Tierney not saying to Oliver - go pitchside and have a look?  How can Tierney and Oliver (who was close enough)  not think that that is handball?

I reckon the monitor pitch side isn’t actually plugged in at any ground.

I imagine from his angle, side on, Oliver couldn't be sure whether it hit the arm.  I tend to agree though.  It would have been a suitable incident for the referee to look at the monitor.  One of those that had the referee given the penalty, it wouldn't have been overturned either

I personally don’t think it’s a penalty, his arm is in a natural position and his hand never moves towards the ball so not deliberate for me. Had a penalty been recommended by VAR then would the Liverpool goal he ruled out??

Oliver managing the game well and has given Fabinho and Fernandinho a very clear warning.
Sterling and aguero very lucky to not be booked for dissent, and surely a yellow for aguero for running the length of the pitch!

I very rarely expect handballs to be given in PL so not surprised it wasn't considered as a clear and obvious error.

Would the handball from Silva before it have any impact?

Referee doesn’t think it’s a penalty and he’s very close to the incident and VAR confirms that it is the right decision but on a personal level I have seen them given

So have I! However, I was at a PL match last Saturday when a similar incident occurred with a ball coming across from a corner . It hit the defender on the arm which stopped it going to the attacker who was in front of goal in the six yard box ---nothing given and VAR agreed. I am still no nearer, although I think  that the ball actually came off  Silva's arm in the first place.

Referee's decision used to be final!

In the Spurs game earlier this season City were denied a winner when a goal bound shot slightly brushed Walkers arm when it was unintentional and there was no way he could get out of the way. So can someone please please please explain why City were not awarded a pen which might have changed to whole game, who knows.to me the whole handball situation is a complete random shambles, like VAR

1 very marginal decision aside, if you cannot defend properly then you don't deserve to win any game. Guardiola has brought it upon himself not replacing Kompany in the summer. He had a £50 million pound left back not even in the squad and a £60 million left back on the bench. Who's fault is that?

Because since the beginning of this season the law is now stricter when it involves the scoring of a goal. You cannot score a goal if it involves a handball in the build up - any type of handball, accidental or not.

Good point, however, TAA's non-handball led to the ball being cleared and a goal scored at the other end ---was this not involved in the build up?
