Could be a difficult afternoon for the card shark but he is using all his experience to manage things well. Two definite penalties awarded and the unsavoury scenes after Dier scored has livened it up considerably.

I think the penalty for spurs was a wrong call. Doesn’t look to be any contact at all but I do have the luxury of the replay.

I've seen some debate about the Spurs penalty but I think he got it right personally, and I certainly couldn't criticise him for giving it.

I think the officials have been excellent so far on what has been a great game to watch - they've used their experience to keep control of it whilst equally allowing it to flow.

The assistant clealry gave the 1st one
He has guessed the 2nd one. Very minimal contact if any.
Note Son holding his knee leg when if any contact it was on the side of his boot

Mr Cann showing again why he is and has been one of the finest assistants this country has produced.

I think the card shark has been excellent today.

Great performance by Mike Dean, he is my favourite ref. If I'm honest, he reminds me of when I reffed. Mike always gives honestly what he sees, and never bottles it, even when he knows there will be a reaction. Great performance from the whole officiating team

Didn’t see the Arsenal penalty, but thought the Spurs one correct. Felt the Vertongen second YC was harsh, won the ball cleanly, but did the contact with the Arsenal player in the follow through merit more than a free-kick?

He loves a reaction!
Perfect game for a theatrical attention seeking official and he performed acceptably.

Overall, I'd say this was right up there with the best officiating performances in the Premier League this season.

I Think He showed Why he was appointed to this game, Someone With A Lot Of Experience and Confidence in his refereeing is perfect for a heated game like this.

So we have a melee involving a large number of players and then pushing and shoving after the Spurs penalty is awarded and yet only 1 player receives a YC.

Because man management is sometimes better than just throwing cards around like confetti!

Couldn’t agree more which is what makes it all the more surprising as Lord Dean has never before shown the slightest inclination towards player management.
