M ATKINSON - Wolves v Man C

Oh dear, Mr Hatzidakis has missed two infringements in the space of a millisecond... clear offside when the touch from Raul ended up in the path of Boly who put the ball in with his arm.

Very poor.

Never offside!
Yes it went in off his arm but nowhere near deliberate. And very difficult to spot at full speed in real time. Not even the city players appealed.
Should have been a penalty on Silva, Atkinson seems to be like Attwell. Has to be absolutely 1000% blatant before he even considers giving a penalty!

Draw about fair as I think Sterling went down under minimal contact for the free kick that led to the goal so probably evened itself out!

I think it was offside because the ball was flicked on just before it reached the goalscorer.

I seem to remember it being clarified over the past year or two that the Premier League have agreed that if a player scores with their hand it will be disallowed even if not strictly 'deliberate'.

I don't think either of the Manchester City penalty appeals were fouls.

That was exactly my thoughts regarding the offside.

Just looked at a couple of different replays and neither claims for a penalty were justified from Man City. Atkinsonj quite right to play on

It was discussed on the old side at some point last season (can't remember in relation to which incident?) but Jacqui Oatley has clarified on twitter after speaking to Mike Riley that it was agreed amongst Premier League clubs and referees that if a goal was scored by any player with their arm then it would be disallowed.

Interesting to know if a yellow card is still mandatory for any case of this?

It's nothing but violating the LOTG and IFAB should intervene immediately. Unfortunately, it's quite common trend nowadays (at least in UEFA competitions) that referees whistle even totally undeliberate handballs of attacking players. Either you change the LOTG or you apply them as they are. There is no third way like that one...
