It's very hard to see what he actually does. I suspect the referee, not knowing it's a regular rite of celebration for the player, has misinterpreted the gesture as a piece of dissent. Sometimes players make the glasses sign to indicate to the referee that he/she needs to wear glasses because their eyesight must be defective as they are missing so much. Perhaps that is the explanation.

Seems the most logical explanation to me, WB.
Hajrá Lilák. Csak a Kispest. Hajrá Magyarok! Hajrá játékvezetői csapat! Soha ne add fel. Nincs sárga kérem!!! No Chris Kavanagh doesn't live in Ashton or even in the Greater Manchester area!!

Though the chain of logic in the circumstances that he had just scored seems a bit convoluted; unless of course he had previously had a significant decision go, wrongly in his eyes, against him.

I don't think anyone was accusing the referee of being logical !

Guess I asked for that!  Though I don't think I could ever be accused of assuming that referees thought logically

According to the report I read in the Italian press the caution was because the referee interpreted the gesture as a provocation aimed at the opposing supporters.
