It's very hard to see what he actually does. I suspect the referee, not knowing it's a regular rite of celebration for the player, has misinterpreted the gesture as a piece of dissent. Sometimes players make the glasses sign to indicate to the referee that he/she needs to wear glasses because their eyesight must be defective as they are missing so much. Perhaps that is the explanation.

Seems the most logical explanation to me, WB.
Though the chain of logic in the circumstances that he had just scored seems a bit convoluted; unless of course he had previously had a significant decision go, wrongly in his eyes, against him.

I don't think anyone was accusing the referee of being logical !
Guess I asked for that!  Though I don't think I could ever be accused of assuming that referees thought logically
