Leeds v Ipswich - Craig Pawson
« on: Thu 25 Oct 2018 10:34 »

...
Yet again errors going in favour of the big teams. Now, I am sure there is no covert plan to favour the big teams, however..... Recently at work we have been required to undergo Unconscious Bias training. I approached the exercise with my usual cheerful cynicism but actually was amazed about what I learned from my own reactions leading to my conduct. I suggest that when the SG1 have  one of their many get-togethers that the organisers include Unconscious Bias as part of the training. It may be that they already have, in which case they need to do it again and better because I do think there is a problem here in decisions tending to favour big clubs.

I think Craig Pawson could benefit from such training.

Firstly let me say that teams playing Ipswich at the moment need not the slightest bit of bias, unconscious or otherwise, to comfortably walk away with all 3 points.

However it did seem to me that he found it easier to give free-kicks in the Leeds's favour and easier to show cards to Ipswich players. And what was he and, particularly, the Assistant looking at when Chambers was so blatantly pulled down in the box in a rare Ipswich attack?

I was at the game and it is very refreshing to say that Craig Pawson had an almost faultless display. This sort of performance is what the players and supporters deserve. So much better than the dross served up by the officials recently at Elland Road. Opposing supporters will never be in total agreement about a referees performance, but he did miss a clear handball on the edge of the Ipswich penalty area  and a clear foul in front of the assistant both in the second half. Well done Mr Pawson!!

I'm not surprised that any Leeds supporter would be more than happy with Mr Pawson's performance for the reasons already stated. It was certainly very reasonable but for me it was unfortunate that on a number of occasions what constituted a free-kick or caution was not applied consistently against both teams.

Your recent dross comment presumably refers to the last two games neither of which you won. Mr Simpson couldn't be accused of being a homer; perhaps the persistent, often foul-mouthed moronic chanting got on his nerves too.

My comments are always based on what I see and not who I support. I do not attribute your comments to the fact that Ipswich lost. I found your last post unnecessary and not worthy of this site. Even at 71 I chant and I am not a moron.

Well, I put a like on the post which you find "unnecessary and not worthy of this site.........."
I did so because the chants are often foul-mouthed and moronic ---and it is not just Leeds fans who are guilty of this.
If you enjoy chanting and it keeps you happy then good luck to you and it does not make you a moron, however, it does not alter the fact that the chants are often moronic.

As far as Leeds fans moaning about referees, let's face it, they moan about everything --the latest thing being about the League being totally against Leeds because of their treatment of Pontus Jansson. They certainly have a complex when it comes to authority, although they are not treated any differently to other small clubs.
Referee's decision used to be final!

As a Leeds fan of 20 years I have to say that I don’t think that we moan about everything what I think that we do moan about is being treat as it seems to most Leeds fans differently than other clubs. For example take into account the Watkins dive and Canos headbutt from a few weeks back from the Brentford game I have no problem with Jansson being banned because he always was going to what I have a problem with is that if they can punish Jansson for that then why do they look at the Canos headbutt and decide that it isn’t worthy of a ban or how the Watkins dive isn’t a clear act of Simulation that is what annoys Leeds fans the most. Also considering we have won 3 first division titles an Fa cup and come runners up in the champions league once I wouldn’t call us a small club but that’s just my opinion your entitled to your own

1st division titles in 1968–69, 1973–74, 1991–92
FA Cup in 1972
European Cup Winners Cup 'runners up' - 1973
Last in the Premier League - 2003/4

You might have a decent history from over mostly 40 years ago now but you have not been a top flight club for 14 years and haven't won anything significant in 26 years. You are not a big club anymore, imo, sorry. There are many clubs in the football league with similar histories, similar long time past glories but who have not been competitive in the top flight for many years. Personally I'd not go as far to describe any such clubs as small but none are big clubs anymore either. I'd have to say average clubs with significant proud histories.
