Nuno ends up with a fine of £25000 which he will probably find well worth it, particularly if PGMOL don't allocate Lee Mason to any further Wolves fixtures this season!

Any Good Ref's Secretary would send them back rather quickly to show they can't choose who officiates them.

My thoughts exactly.  If I were Mike Riley I'd be sending him back on the next round of appointments announced, followed again 3-4 weeks later, well I'd probably do it every 2 weeks but then I am rather cantankerous!!

I think that is missing the point.  To make an appointment for provocation is simply making himself look vindictive and petty.  Let's not lose sight of the fact that referees are there to serve the game, nobody pays to watch them.  Someone in Riley's position needs to be pragmatic and tactful in order to provide the best service he can to the game.  He is already so self-important that he seems to consider referees beyond any form of criticism.  As I have said before, Riley above anyone is unfit for his position and it's time he was gone.

As for Mason's personal feelings at being criticised, if he is so precious that he cannot take criticism then he is probably in the wrong career.  All of us have been criticised at some time or other.  He has been one of the PL's lower performers for years and seems not to benefit from experience.  Just my view, but plenty on this forum have criticised him in the past for not being good enough.

That's true, I've always been a nobody!
