I’m usually a big fan of Keith Stroud and still think to this day he was the most unluckiest referee ever to be demoted from the Select Group. It was so unfair.

However, I can only describe this performance in a few words... “Poor and enept throughout!”

I couldn’t believe how bad and consistent his decisions were for the whole game rather than just during for one period!

But, he’s shown he can come back from disasters so I still have a lot of faith in him.

You're correct, he was very unlucky to be dropped from SG1 at the time.

Unfortunately he's spent the last couple of years working really hard at proving those who dropped him right !

Reading were in the Premier League in 2007-08 so I saw a fair amount of Keith Stroud (as well as Steve Tanner) in live games.

I thought that Tanner was the better of the two but personally I felt neither was up to that level. Tanner never seemed fully convincing or confident, and I remember him making a variety of what I felt were key match errors in Reading games, let alone his other matches.

Stroud was overly fussy and officious and again I remember him making various notable errors.

I can’t disagree about Steve Tanner in the Premier League.  Although when he returned to the Football League for a couple of seasons he was excellent.  He was also appointed to a play off final.

I think Tanner was in charge of an East Anglian Derby during that time

Always liked to see him at Dean Court. Can't remember him ever having a bad game there. Lovely man as well, I'm pretty sure he is an assessor now.

He was appointed to an East Anglian derby prior to his promotion.  It was possibly 2006-07 ?  He was also the Suffolk RDO for a short period of time as well.
