What a week! Monday, waterlogged at Golcar. Tuesday, Liversedge game switched to Emley.
Wednesday, however, was bright, with no problems at Campion. Bradford has for months, possibly years, been enduring problems because of road works, on which nobody ever seems to be working. Then the bus Interchange had to be closed, because of falling concrete, and the results have been chaotic. However, the promise of a rara axis, in the exotic form of a referee from Hampshire, was sufficient temptation. Setting out at 18.00, there was a very long wait for a bus, but Bradford was reached with an hour to go before kick-off. The trudge to the usual bus stopp took several minutes. Things have got worse, however, as work has now begun on the laudable project of making the city centre a pedestrian zone. This stop was no longer in use, with buses now departing from where I had just walked from. Back there, a bus was shown due in 3 minutes: it never appeared. Another, at 19.20 would leave a brisk walk to reach the ground in time. It, or rather its partner, 618 rather than the promised 617, arrived, but was still there some ten minutes later. It would be impossible to reach the ground until well into the first half, so it was a case of cutting losses and returning home.
And tonight, of course, Liversedge have switched their game to Ossett. It is to be hoped things improve before Saturday.
