Jeremy Simpson Leeds v Brentford
« on: Sat 06 Oct 2018 15:34 »
I have written on here before about Mr Simpson. Never been impressed with him. He is, however, consistent. That is being poor. Today he was very poor throughout even by his standards. Too many incidents to write about. I would love to see the assessors report and the reports from the clubs. He is simply not good enough to be refereeing at this level of football. But as usual nothing will happen and two unfortunate clubs will have him next week!

Appalling display from Simpson this afternoon. A very dubious penalty, several bizarre decisions given and not given and Odubajo was very lucky to stay on the field.

There also seemed to be a head butt from one of the Brentford players who had been substituted towards Alioski which was missed.

The game was very tetchy in the second half with plenty of handbags coupled with complete dross from the officials.

Absolutely shocking display!! I too would love to see the assessors report on this debacle. How this guy continues to get games at this level is beyond me!

I disagree, the player was on his way down before contact was made with the goalie, and Jeremy Simpson should have cautioned the player for diving and awarded Leeds a free kick. The TV pundit suggested that it was a difficult call for Jeremy to make, and again I disagree, imo it was a clear dive and should have been punished as such  :-[

I couldn't agree more. He was already on his way down before he was anywhere near BPF.  I'd post a picture if I could figure out how.

Since when has "going on their way down" been part of the laws? Just because a player is falling over or off balance, doesn't mean he isn't fouled. He has poked the ball past the keeper and the keeper has taken him out, plain and simple!

Having not been hopeful or expectant of a good performance from Mr Simpson beforehand it unfortunately lived up to my expectation. First off his recognition of challenges was poor for example the odubajo challenge should have been a second yellow and other challenges that players should have been cautioned for and weren’t then the penalty might have been difficult to spot for Mr Simpson I think it would have been easier for the AR to see the challenge as it is a dive and hopefully Watkins alongside Canos for the handbags on the touch line are punished by the Fa in fact the only decision he got right was Ayling’s second caution.Unfortunately what could have been a really good flowing game was ruined by Mr Simpson and his decision making
