It's been nine long months, but today I was one of a lucky 2000 able to go and watch a match at Carrow Road. Although a game against a Tony Pulis side might not be my first choice. The most important aspect was a lot of time and effort had obviously been put in to follow the covid guidelines and I felt safer than going to the Supermarket.
It was also good to see a "new" ref visit Carrow Road for the first time. I assume to have a different observer/assessor? How did he do? He got most things right, he tried to play advantage a couple of times when free kicks would have been better. Blew up too quickly once and held his hand up to apologise for not playing advantage and typical of most referees only started worrying about time wasting after when the added time board went up at 90 mins.
But, two big penalty decisions needed to be made in the second half. Both for Sheffield, both turned down, first one looked nailed on plus Norwich defender would have had to have red card, ( No VAR
)but the second he got correct, the defender played the ball.
Finally, the numbering/lettering on the back of the Sheffield shirts, awful, totally illegible.
