Mr Wright’s first visit to Stadium MK for an EFL fixture and I have to say I was rather impressed with him.
He was calm and composed throughout the first 70 minutes, when he barely had a decision to make. The teams wanted to play football and it was an end to end game and enjoyable, which was helped by his style.
The last 20 minutes got a bit more intense and feisty. He correctly sent off the Grimsby player for a two footed lunge, no complaints and everybody clearly agreed and no arguments. Then there was a goal mouth scramble, good old Sunday league and the cowshed and players went berserk, wanting a penalty. No idea what for, but they obviously presumed there was a handball somewhere in there, but neither Mr Wright or Mr Dudley was unmoved. He dealt with the time wasting of the Grimsby goalkeeper well, and one final flash point was a tackle on the League 2 Yaya Tourse, Ouss Cisse. Hint it looked worse than it was, but did well to deal with the Dons players wanting a red, and correctly, in my opinion issued a yellow. Lots of complaints at full time from the Dons, led by the totally Useless Dean Lewington, but in my view, totally unwarranted.
Will happily welcome all 4 back again to Stadium MK anytime.
One final thing, it was a delight to see the 610 Grimsby fans make the near 300 mile round trip on a Tuesday night. They sang their hearts and were a credit to their team
