Football returning in Eastern Europe
« on: Fri 01 May 2020 14:06 »
I know there are more important things in life going on right now other than football but...

Poland have announced a phased return to football.

Polish Prime Minister gave the green light to the return of Polski Ekstraklasa players to the football fields. They will be able to resume training on prepared facilities in accordance with the government's return to competition program. It was developed by a crisis staff appointed by the board of Ekstraklasa in cooperation with the Polish Football Association. “That's great news. The government's consent to resume training gives us a chance to implement the plan we have been working on for the last 4 weeks together with experts within the crisis staff. Unless unexpected adversities arise and the health situation in the country allows it, after passing the preparation period the league could start on May 29”, announces Marcin Animucki, President of Ekstraklasa. “In parallel, we received confirmation of information from UEFA about the possibility of completing the season by July 20. Thus, the necessary conditions that I mentioned two weeks ago came true and we have the chance not only to resume, but also to finish the competition”, adds Animucki. According to UEFA guidelines, each federation is to do everything to finish the season on the pitch in the current formula of the competition. Polski Ekstraklasa can play until July 20, while federations from places 1-15 in the UEFA ranking up to August 3.

According to the plan's assumptions, players and training staff (50 people from each club) will undergo rigorous training on medical procedures until the end of the season (or as required by the health situation in the country), enabling safe ending of the competition. From the beginning of the week, these groups will begin 14-day sports isolation and daily reporting according to a detailed - and uniform for the entire league - medical survey, aimed at early detection of possible symptoms of disease. The next stages of restarting the Polski Ekstraklasa games according to the plan approved by the government:
3-4 May: tests of players and staff members
4 May: training in groups of players
10 May: team training
27-28 May: tests of players, staff members and referees
29-31 May: resuming competition (matchday 27)
18-19 July: end of the season, this allowing the participation of Polish teams in the qualifying rounds for European cups.
Each time point of the plan depends on the epidemic situation in the country and the recommendations of the Ministry of Sport and the Ministry of Health and GIS. Matches will be played without the participation of the public until cancellation of restrictions imposed by the government. The necessary minimum group of people will be indicated for the match service. Ekstraklasa has already begun work on the procedure specifying organizational details that will be guidelines for clubs and media partners of the games.

Hungary have also now indicated that the NBI could be back as soon as 23rd May. This was one of the options announced by Mr Csányi a few weeks ago and now looks possible. Mr Orbán announced that some lock down restrictions are being loosened outside of Budapest at least.  In the government gazette 170/2020 states:
"First §
throughout Hungary (1)
a) without sporting event spectators may be held in closed conditions,
b) to participate in organized by sports associations and amateur sport, recreational sports and mass sports training purposes is permitted "

This means that according to Thursday's announcement, which will take effect from May 4, and the football association's announcement last week (https://szovetseg.mlsz.hu/hir/dontes-a-folytatasrol), the NBI can continue as early as May 23. It's up to Mr Csányi to decide the exact date.

The announcement last week said:

The presidency of the MLSZ has decided that if the Government partially or completely lifts the existing bans on the coronavirus epidemic, allows team trials and sporting events under the conditions specified in the decree, the UFM International from the first Wednesday or Saturday (whichever is earlier) of the 20th day following its publication, but not later than 13 June.

- The association has singled out three of the competition system that have an international sequel. In the women's and men's NB I, as well as in the men's Hungarian Cup, it has to be decided who will represent Hungary in the international cups, so now the association dealt with these in the first round and decided on the conditions for the continuation. We will decide the fate of all other championships once we see the development of the epidemic situation more clearly - added dr. Márton Vági, Secretary General of the MLSZ.

Mr Csányi is awaiting confirmation from the government that the NBI & NBII can restart on 23rd May, with matches being played behind closed doors.

He's funny - in the interview he jokingly says "Our stadiums aren't usually crowded, the alliance was forward-thinking in shaping the audience so that they could be handled in an epidemic." Many a true word said in jest! ;)

He's just been re-elected as president of the federation for another 5 years, which if he completes the full term will make him the longest serving president. I like him and think he has been an excellent president so far. There are some issues but then where doesn't have those! He really has improved Hungarian football & its standing in Europe, long way to go still but I believe he will keep pushing. He's well respected at UEFA & FIFA level now, something we've never really had in Hungary before and he works tirelessly for the good of the game. He just needs to get himself some better advisors lower down the chain as too many lie to him, tell him what he wants to hear because they are just interested in the big paychecks instead of being honest about the issues. I hope he will deal with that now as he's been embarrassed a few times recently when he has made statements based on their reports at UEFA & FIFA level and then discovered them not to be true.  VAR being one, he was told 100 refs had been trained over the past 2 years - the true figure is 4, and that includes Kassai who is no longer refereeing! We only have Katalin Kulcsár, Tamás Bognár & Balázs Berke trained currently, the latter has done 0 games with VAR & Bognár has only done a handful - literally 3/4 games.  He does need to stop relying on reports & follow things up himself but he believes the best in people & gets taken advantage of imo.

I've translated the article below (badly probably but I try!) just in case anyone other than me is interested!

NB I: According to Sándor Csányi, the tournament can resume on May 23 at the earliest.

According to their calculations, the matches in NB I and NB II, which have been suspended due to the coronavirus epidemic, can start again on May 23 at the earliest, according to a live video interview conducted by Sándor Csányi, President of the Hungarian Football Association (MLSZ). Brain Bar’s Facebook page was given early Thursday night.

Gergely Böszörményi-Nagy, the founder of Brain Bar , talked primarily with Sándor Csányi, President and CEO of OTP Bank, about the prospects of the Hungarian economy, the world economic situation and the lessons of the crisis, but the impact of the coronavirus epidemic on football

“If they allow it, we will start the championship, the presidency of the MLSZ has taken a position on this before and has also informed the teams about it. According to our calculations, we could start between May 23 and June 13, and in this case we can finish by the end of June, the beginning of July, ” said Sándor Csányi, emphasizing that they are waiting for the official description of state regulation for the time being.

We reported that on Thursday, the government allowed training and indoor sporting events in professional, amateur and mass sports from May 4, and based on this, National Sport Online also made the earliest start of the league on May 23 likely.

However, Thursday's government information did not make it clear whether the license for training and private match-making was valid for the whole country or only for the countryside - perhaps this was also the remark of the MLSZ president's remark that they were waiting for precise state regulation. As a first step , the relevant government decree was published in the Hungarian Gazette late in the evening .

According to Sándor Csányi, the NB I and NB II teams have an infrastructure that can be used to create the conditions for a fresh start (pre-match testing, isolation of potentially infected, compliance with additional health regulations), but significant testing costs must be created. According to the MLSZ president, the resumption of the tournament is also important in this respect, as in this case the clubs will receive sponsorship money for the whole season.

In this context, in relation to amateur football and Bozsik program as soon as possible re-launch of, he said: "People leave the least re" - justification means considerable cost of testing required for health, citing terms of physical difficulties of implementation of the entire utánpótlás- and adult field hundreds of thousands participate.

As far as NB I and NB II are concerned, Csányi clarified that in the first days there will be obviously closed goalie matches - according to the government information, events of more than 500 people cannot be held until 15 August - which he jokingly remarked about: "Our stadiums aren't usually crowded, the alliance was forward-thinking in shaping the audience so that they could be handled in an epidemic."

As is known, the Hungarian national team is waiting for the European Championship qualifier against Bulgaria, the date of which is not yet known. Sándor Csányi said that the competent body of UEFA will discuss the program of the national team in the near future on May 11 , in which case we will see more clearly.

REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The coronavirus epidemic is shaking football clubs around the world, and it seems logical that the much-cherished idea of regional leagues may come to the fore - that is, more affluent teams may flock to such leagues as they flee.

"I support it, and I don't support it," said Sándor Csányi, who also holds senior positions in international football , "because I don't see it clearly yet."

Investigations and thought experiments are underway in this matter, but according to the President, it is not only necessary to find reassuring answers to sports questions (sufficient number of BL-start, El-start in but also the economic background.

A big question, for example, is that if a sponsor who still focuses on national championships today sees a greater opportunity in regional point hunting and has become a way to ensure that this does not cause irreparable damage to the domestic championship.

STABILITY AND STATE INVOLVEMENT

"The role of the state is greater than elsewhere, but it cannot be called excessive in relation to the product," Csányi replied to a forum question, adding that although there is arguably more interest in the national team's matches, NB I also serves such a large number of fans. should not be considered ‘overpaid’ in relation to

The President reiterated that he was recently given the National Sport's exclusive interview on: the coronavirus epidemic has created circumstances the situation of the Hungarian football compared to neighboring countries and even stable at European level, which is a relative competitive advantage, based on this, "I am confident that the Hungarian football is on an upward curve ”.

At the same time, even if the bargaining position of Hungarian clubs improves internationally, he believes that the difference between the “big” and the “small” will not decrease significantly in the new situation either.

Regarding the expected decline in tao money, he said: as the head of OTP, as president of MLSZ, he has been a “ proponent of reserves ” for ten years, so that if an emergency arises, they can bridge.

GET IN! Roll on May 23d

It is now 100% confirmed that the NBI, ladies NBI & the Hungarian Cup will continue.  All other leagues are suspended. They are only playing out the leagues that determine Euro places.

Magyar Kupa semi final 1st legs are to be played on 23th May
MD 26 will take place on 30th May.

Liláks postponed derbi match with Fradi is 27th May - Hájra Lilák!  I won't be there in person, I'd have to travel on the 10th and do my 2 weeks mandatory quarantine in time to be tested 2 days before the game but the boss has just told me that although he wants me there, he does not want me there because I am in a vulnerable category & my stuff can be done online/via Skype. He is not therefore willing to name me as essential staff - I understand his point, he's making the right call in reality but I will have a few tears about that later when he's not looking. I desperately want my néni hugs but they are not important now.  I'll speak to my boys pre-match on Skype, watch the stream of the game & speak to my boys on Skype again after the game.

Hoping they've not quietly pensioned off the lovely Mr Solymosi during the break & I get #SolymosiWatch to really cheer me up!

There are 2 of the big Budapest derbies left to play as 1 was postponed prior to the whole covid-19 thing starting because of the state of Lilák pitch.

They are the biggest domestic games in Hungary.  A huge part of them is the normal firework/pyro displays by the respective sets of ultras, they are just awesome.  They do very choreographed displays and have a contest to see who does the best display during the game. Sadly those will be missing for these 2 games but rather that and the games going ahead than no games! If I can tempt any of you, bar Tünde, who watches anyway, into joining me for even just 1 NBI game, they would really be the games of choice.

27.05.20 7pm (UK time) kick off - Lilák v Fradi
20.06.20 8.05pm (UK time) KO - Fradi v Lilák

There is also 1 "emotion derby" left to play. The lovely Mr Solymosi is often referee for that match. Possibly best to avoid me during that one as I am an emotional wreck, especially if Péter is referee! That is the one I was hoping the boss would change his mind for and let me attend but he's not having any of it. Depending on appointments it could also end up being game 300 for Péter and potentially his retirement game.

06.06.20 - 8.05pm (UK time) kick off - Újpest (Lilák) v Budapest Honvéd (Kispest)

The Russian FA has decided that the Premier League will resume on 21 June and has drawn up a schedule for the remaining cup and league fixtures.  The second and third tiers will not resume, and positions will be decided on the basis of the tables as of 17 March.  At the end of the season the normal play-offs have been cancelled: the bottom two teams will be relegated from the Premier League and the top two teams promoted from the National League (second tier).

Whether this actually happens may well depend on how things stand on 21 June in those regions which are host to Premier League sides.

Ferencváros 2-1 DVSC Referee: Pintér Csaba (Black shirt)

Did wonder what this game was going to be like. Fradi have had a #Egyuttveletek (Together with you) campaign ongoing and wanted fans to send in facial shots to stick to cardboard cutouts in the stands and I feared it would be very tacky! It actually wasn't! They just put them down one side of the pitch opposite the cameras, in the lower tier (well it could have been both sides but it certainly didn't continue behind the goals). They also piped in crowd noises and to be fair to them got it absolutely spot on! It wasn't too loud, it wasn't distracting and 2nd half in particular they varied the level a bit more so there were some quieter spells and some slightly noisier spells. It didn't scream manufactured atmosphere at all and it was very easy to forget that there were no fans in the stadium. Well done Fradi - nailed it I think the idea came from the Bundesliga.

As for the game, what an absolute cracker! The most noticeable thing was how relaxed the players and match officials looked. Fradi are normally one of the worst for play acting and dissent - there was none! Not a single bit of play acting in 93 mins of football. Not a single instance of a player tripping over their shoe laces, their ego or being shot by some invisible sniper in row z. It made for very pleasant viewing. There was an occasional shrug or 'come on ref' type of comment but very brief, not OTT and as you would expect really. There was 1, yes just 1 singular display of dissent and that was in the dying seconds and aimed the way of Mr Karakó behind the goal line. Born of frustration more than anything Mr Karakó did wrong! It was not prolonged or OTT but was the sole display of dissent.

I'll tell you what this game was without fans - an absolute joy to watch! The players behaved impeccably, the play acting disappeared completely and dissent was reduced to a single minor incident. The players played with passion but were relaxed and not overhyped up. When a tackle came in they didn't respond to cries from the crowd by rolling 382 times, no dropping to the floor like a stone in the penalty area as a corner came in etc. Instead they got straight back up after a tackle and chased down the ball, eyes on the ball not ears to the crowd. Some fantastic spells from both teams and we were treated to 3 absolute peaches of goals. Loki's goal was a stunner, curled in from a free kick with one heck of a curve into the top corner. Fradi's 2nd goal and the game winner was also an absolute cracker, the dip and bend on it  :o

Mr Pintér was relaxed throughout the entire game, you could see it on his face. He was confident in his decision making and consistent. No real wrong calls. He greatly benefitted from the lack of dissent & play acting and relaxed players. All out there thoroughly enjoyed themselves and it showed. There was 1 particular outstanding tight non offside call by Theodoros Georgiou.

Well done team ref and both teams. That is how I want football to be game in game out.

Mezőkövesd Zsóry 1-1 Mol Fehérvár  Referee: Farkas Ádám (Red Shirt)

The saving grace for this game was that is came with #SolymosiWatch!

Unlike the Fradi game, the play acting, particularly by Vidi was embarrassing and the dissent non stop at times. I think in part down to Mr Farkas tolerance levels. I like Farkas as a ref, he is consistent with his decision making but remains on the more lenient side. He is very suited to the European games, he has a great mindset for them however he is not quite so suited to the domestic league. Hungary applies a very strict interpretation of the LOTG, too strict sometimes but it is consistently strict and known to be so. Mr Farkas on the other hand referees more within the spirit of the LOTG, he'd be more suited to football in the UK in that respect.  Dissent is often higher in his games because of this, he often doesn't give free kicks players expect due to the strict application of the LOTG and faces dissent over it. When refereeing a team known to whinge and whine through an entire game like MOL Fehervar are known for it can be frustrating viewing because it just seems to exacerbate it. Vidi literally start moaning the second the whistle goes to start a game, it was too loud, too shrill, not loud enough, the blast was too long or too short... You get the picture! On the rare occasions they actually shut up and play they play some lovely football, they seem to however to prefer to whinge, whine, throw themselves to the floor and sit there crying to actually playing the game though sadly & yesterday was no exception. They are so embarrassing.

No manufactured crowd noise either so we were also able to 'enjoy' the crying from the away team bench in all its 'glory'!  ::)

A 1-1 draw sets the game up nicely for an enticing 2nd leg on Tuesday. Hajrá Mezőkövesd - please save us all from a full of histrionics final!

It wasn't all bad, there was a red shirted Mr Solymosi behind the goal to the right to keep bmb happy!

MTK Budapest 0-0 Budapest Honvéd Referee: Erdős József (Red shirt)

This game followed suit with the earlier Fradi game in terms of player behaviour. Play acting was virtually non existent, a couple of eye rolling exaggerated appeals but nowhere near on par with the histrionics in the above game. It was a Budapest derby after all so there was always going to be that extra bite. Add in the fact that Honvéd are groundsharing with MTK right now, whilst the new stadium is being built and there is that pinch of added spice. We will be welcoming MTK back to the NBI next season and they are a completely different side to the one we said goodbye to a couple of seasons ago.  They have a very young squad, lots of academy players, a young manager and look fantastic. They play football, no silliness, they just get on and play. They are young, they are hungry for success and want to do it right.  Can't wait to see them back in the league to be honest. As an aside depending on who gets relegated from the NBI this season we may have as many as 5 sets of Budapest derby matches to look forward to next season, we need my beloved Lilák to stay up!

Onto the game. It was again noticeable how relaxed both teams and the match officials looked before the game started. That carried on through the game, which played as you expect a derby to play, it was entertaining and full on from start to finish. Some fantastic moments from both teams but they also shared the same weakness - great in the first 2/3 of the pitch and clueless in the final 1/3.  MTK perhaps need to sign someone ahead of next season and Honvéd desperately need both Lanzafame and Moutari to get their heads back in the game.  Both are off the boil right now and have been for a while and the no manager situation is not really helping with that. A senior coach is acting as interim manager but the team needs the role filled permanently for some degree of stability.  On another day this could have ended with 3/4 goals apiece, the effort was certainly there, the shooting boots however were locked in the boot of the kitmans car. The best chance came in the final 5 when George shamefully blasted a 1 on 1 with the keeper right into the keepers arms instead of burying it. It was harder to miss than score & he went for the hard option!

As for Mr Erdős & his team, they thoroughly enjoyed themselves out there. Consistent, relaxed and confident. There was a bit more dissent in this game, nothing major though & nothing prolonged or OTT. The players wanted to just get on and play in the main. It was another game that was a joy to watch and all 3 teams played a huge part in that. 2nd leg is on Tuesday night, same ground and just with the players traipsing across the hall to a different dressing room. Can't wait!

In addition to the 2nd legs on Tuesday night we have the big Budapest derby on Wednesday. I do and don't want the lovely Mr Solymosi in charge of that one, if he can also do the emotion derby on 6th June then bring it on, if he can't do both then Mr Iványi wearing anything but yellow for Wednesday please Mr Puhl!!  :-*

Ah yes highlight of the day... Just before the teams came out for the 2nd half the camera panned across over to the tunnel briefly and there were team ref all stood there with Mr Iványi doing some great Dad dancing!! The camera continued moving and then as if the operator suddenly realised what he had seen panned back to the tunnel again and stopped - team ref and all of the players in view were in fits of laughter before Mr Iványi treated us to a 2nd display of Dad dancing. Absolutely brilliant moment. Just seeing both teams and the match officials so relaxed and in high spirits together for that brief moment was lovely. It was business as usual and all professional on the pitch but that was one of those special moments. I do feel sorry for any kids Mr Iványi has though, they must dread his dad dancing at parties & with good reason!  ;D

It's not actually at the same ground, it's being played at the new National Stadium.  The 1st decisive game to be held there.
