In the article it says "But the slap was followed up by Greater Manchester Police after referee Anthony Backhouse included it in his match report ."

Maybe it's just the way I am reading it but it sounds to me like it would not have been followed up if the referee had not included it? If that's the case then shocking, it should have been followed up in any event. From a refereeing perspective maybe a lesson for our younger refs wanting to progress to always ensure they add in these off field events to their reports as you never know the difference they will make in the grand scheme of things.
Hajrá Lilák. Csak a Kispest. Hajrá Magyarok! Hajrá játékvezetői csapat! Soha ne add fel. Nincs sárga kérem!!! No Chris Kavanagh doesn't live in Ashton or even in the Greater Manchester area!!

All credit to Anthony Backhouse but not to the Bury stewarding which allowed the culprit to "stroll back to his seat."

Credit too to the court for taking it seriously although I often wonder just how effective such banning orders are.  The sentence appears to apply to all football grounds but how a turnstile operator at, say, Oldham (or indeed anywhere) would know to refuse him admission  if he turned up there, I don't know.
