England U21 v Germany U21
« on: Wed 27 Mar 2019 10:59 »
Sorry I do not know who the ref was for this U21 friendly at AFCB. Whoever it was, he made a v poor judgment imo in allowing play to continue after Walker-Peters sustained a head injury in the England penalty area and Germany scored their winning goal immediately after. As Aidy Boothroyd commented afterwards, "it's a head injury, it's a friendly, it stops", a view with which I agree having watched the closing stages on BT. I hope that if this ref is officiating in the U20 Finals in Poland, he will have more regard to the need to stop play immediately for a suspected head injury.

Boothroyd also suggested that England should have been given a free kick, but the injury was sustained following a completely accidental collision, so should it not have been a drop ball, or have the rules altered?

Edit - ref was Marco di Bello who does not appear to be on the list for Poland.
