The question was actually UK referees and assistants at the FIFA World Cup finals.  Darren Cann would have been a correct answer.  If Philip Don was a pointless answer from 1994 then I'm sure that Roy Pearson would also have been.

My guess is even World Cup Final AR Mark Warren would have been pointless, unless a member of the refereeing family had been in the 100, likewise Phil Sharp

I misinterpreted the question as referring to the Final matches, rather than tournaments, so went with those two.
I assumed, wrongly as it turned out, that Gauzere and Peyper would have scored, so avoided that one, as the 2010 to 2020 limit raised doubts as to time scales.
My third choice was therefore Umpire Syd Buller, though with the number of cricket buffs who know everything, it is hard to tell whether he would have been pointless.

My three were Paul Durkin, Glenn Turner and Mark Warren. I'd be surprised if at least one of them wasn't pointless.

I had a go at the rugby referees but I think I was either off in the timing or they scored points, if indeed they've refereed at the 6 Nations. I went for Paul Williams (?) and Nick Berry.

But if I'd been on the show I think I'd have kept it to football.

I don't think they could have been much more specific. Even as a very casual rugby follower, I think Nigel Owens is pretty high profile but these rugby fans couldn't name him and he only scored 10. It's probably the sort of thing where if you could get beyond the most obvious answers, such as Poll and Webb for football, you'd have a very good chance of scoring a pointless answer. If I'd been on the show I think it's definitely the sort of category it would be wise for me to go for because even though there's plenty I couldn't name it's the sort of subject where having a reasonable level of knowledge is likely to lead to success. There's probably other categories I might know more about in general but would be less likely to get a pointless answer as my knowledge wouldn't necessarily be greater than the average person.

I was also thinking of Hugh Dallas given the UK angle - did he have any Scottish ARs with him? I can't recall that.

Dallas was in Japan/S Korea if memory serves and there was no Scottish ARs

With the umpires standing in tests i would have just scraped in Peter Willey, others, Russell Tiffin (zimbabwe) Tony Hill (nz) a gentleman, met him at ashes in durham 2013. Sundaram ravi another gent. Srinivasaraghavan Venkataraghavan.
Ian gunner gould.

For info Martin Bodenham didnt get to international cricket umpiring, had many seasons at county level and was highly thought of, a delightful chap with many stories of both his refereeing and umpiring careers.

Rugby finals does derek bevan and clive norling qualify? Wayne barnes?

One for the referees mike mullarkey.

Dallas was also at France in 98.

For a referee aficionado there a lot of options
Football Referee Mark Shield. Not eddie Lennie incase one of the 100 are a into Scottish Immigration to Australia involving football referees
Cricket Umpire Steve Davis. Would avoid Darrell Hair in case anyone remembers that test involving Pakistan
Rugby union referee- K Fitzgerald 87 Final referee and 91 semi between Eng v Scot, sadly passed away from a heart attack while still very much at the top of his game.

Three pointless answers involving Aussie representation.
As a quiz show I really like Pointless but it doesn't rate well with the Australian psyche.
