Very interesting situation here. I can't recall a GK saving 3 times being off his line all 3 times and ending up sent off. Fair play to the commentator who knew the laws of the game it would appear.

His own fault. Was given a warning which is good use of common sense from referee Shane Andrews, then 2nd time fair enough but to do it a 3rd time is absolutely mind-blowing. Red card is correct.

Referee didn't look happy that he had to send him off, perfectly correct within the LOTG & each call to him being off his line was correct so no choice.  As toprefm said the commentator knew the LOTG which is always good to see - the manager quite clearly didn't!

Good to see this Law being applied for a change. So often overlooked at PL and EFL levels. Very rare to see a Penalty Kick retaken when the GK has moved forward from the goal line and saved it. Well done to the officials.

Crusaders say they are seeking legal advice following their penalty shootout loss to Larne in Tuesday's Irish Cup semi-final.

Their goalkeeper, Jonathan Tuffey, saved three penalties but was sent off after he was adjudged to have moved off his line each time before the ball was struck.

Larne won the shootout 6-5 and progressed to Friday's final.

"Crusaders FC regret to announce that the club has tonight appointed counsel in relation to today’s penalty shoot out at Mourneview Park," a statement from the club said.

"The club will expedite any actions as quickly as possible to minimise any disruption to the Peaky Blinders Irish Cup Final, but it should be noted that Crusaders FC will take whatever action necessary to remedy the current situation.

"Our actions are in no way directed at our friends at Larne Football Club. We owe it to our players, manager and backroom staff, members and supporters to take this action."

Linfield were 3-0 winners over Ballymena United in Tuesday's other semi-final.

What a shambles?

He warned him. Did it again: booked him. Did it once again: second yellow and therefore a red.

Why are they taking legal action? Nothing was wrong!!

The problem with this is that how long do you go on retaking penalties. If a player scores it is not retaken even if the goalkeeper encroaches.

The law as it stands for me means that referees could carry on retaking penalties until it was scored

I wonder if that will include reading the LOTG, learning the LOTG and teaching their players the LOTG? I have a feeling that somehow it won't!!

The penalty kick should be retaken as often as is necessary if the GK infringes the law and a goal is not scored. It's up to the GK to abide by the law and make a legitimate save, if possible.

How long do you keep retaking penalties?  Until they are taken in accordance with the Laws of the Game.  As is the case with other restarts.

Whilst you could argue that the AR was being picky / pedantic it is also a classic definition of madness - doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different outcome.
