Craig Hicks...........
« on: Fri 11 Oct 2019 21:29 »
About six weeks ago Craig Hicks refereed Peterborough v Sunderland which resulted in two SAFC players being dismissed, one quite correctly and one after disgraceful antics by a Peterborough player getting his opponent deliberately sent off which quite rightly was rescinded a few days later.
It may be me but I don't think he has had an appointment since in League One or Two.

 Can anyone explain ?

This is really just out of curiosity.

I mentioned in the appointments thread that Mr Hicks appeared to have a poor game in Tranmere v Shrewsbury, sending Connor Jennings off for a second yellow, where it appeared the Shrews player had fouled first and failing to send their player off for a blatant pull-back when already on a YC. Seems to be on a poor run at present.

The poor run started two and a bit years ago. Mostly looking out of his depth when I've seen him.

Did okay, just about, in the Ipswich v Spurs U21 but these are undemanding and I'd suggest academy football is more his level. I believe he works for Surrey FA.  A number of referees and assistants of questionable ability seem to be employed by County FAs.

Speaking of Craig Hicks, I wonder how he managed to miss this blatant handball last night at Plymouth?

One of the poorest decisions I have seen in a while tbh. His case of mistaken identity wasn't great either which has now resulted in a player recieving his 5th yellow, for a foul he didn't commit.

I'm sure you can appeal mistaken identity cards. The proper recipient gets a yellow instead.
