I shall have to wait rather longer for The Day Of The Jack Hall.

Longer still now! The gentleman in question has once more run away to sea, and finds himself on a cruise ship in the Caribbean with cases on Covid-19 on board, so is cooped up in a windowless, airless cabin, which he is not allowed to leave, meals being delivered to the door. Those of us back home don't know how lucky we are to retain some freedom of movement.

I hope that he will return home safely and with any luck will have abandoned thoughts of a nautical life for good!

That must be horrendous. I'm not claustrophobic by any means but I think that would be enough to turn anyone claustrophobic. The nice views out of the window will not compensate for being shut in basically a box :( I hope he at least has a laptop or ipad or something to help maintain some degree of contact with the outside world.
Hajrá Lilák. Csak a Kispest. Hajrá Magyarok! Hajrá játékvezetői csapat! Soha ne add fel. Nincs sárga kérem!!! No Chris Kavanagh doesn't live in Ashton or even in the Greater Manchester area!!

bmb ---read it again ---he is in an inside cabin without a window and you would probably go stir crazy shut up like that. As you correctly state, if you have a view out of the window it does help, having one been confined to cabin with Norovirus several years ago, however, this is a completely new ball game. I can only wish him well!

Even worse :(  I would go stir crazy certainly, at least being able to look out of a window gives some sense of normality/life out there. Wish him well and all the luck in the world with his mental health as well.

It really is a matter of keeping an active mind and not focussing on what may or may not be, just accepting what is and getting on with it.
I think my 23 years in the RAF has stood me in good stead when dealing with the unusual or unexpected. Just get on with it!

Jack is now reporting on facebook that after seven days he has been moved to an outside cabin with balcony. Not before time, but excellent news nonetheless.

That will be much better because at least you can get some fresh air. Still feel sad for him though because his holiday has been ruined. I just hope that he comes through all of this and is OK. Wish him well from a cruiser of over 30 years experience and who should have been going away on 19 April but is now confined to barracks ---well ---almost!

I believe it was another working trip, or would have been, rather than a mere holiday/

That little bit of fresh air & a view will do wonders for helping his mental health. Poor guy :(
