Good to see that the PSG v Borussia Dortmund match was played behind closed doors -------with hundreds of fans congregated outside the stadium.
Never mind, the players would have been safe because they would not have been subject to any bodily fluids whilst exerting themselves etc., etc.

Different countries, different football associations and other sporting associations all dealing with things in their own particular way, however, none of  them, or us for that matter, can say what is correct  or the best way to deal with the virus.

Que sera, sera ----as it always is! Stay safe and uninfected!
Referee's decision used to be final!

The Times reports that all Premier League and EFL games set to be played behind closed doors soon. It seems fans who have bought tickets will be able to view a stream of the game and all Premier League games will seemingly be moved away from the Saturday 3pm slot and televised (but pubs won't be allowed to show them.)

Except that no-one bothered to tell the EFL! However I think we're headed in that direction. The EFL might be keener to postpone matches for a couple of weeks though. Their clubs rely heavily on matchday income.

And extending the season by a couple of weeks to compensate for a suspension is more feasible for Leagues One and Two than the higher leagues as they will be less affected by call-ups of players to summer international squads.

Good win last night for Gladbach in the Koln derby, reported that all Bundesliga games will be behind closed doors this weekend.

Latest speculation is that the Euros will be put back to 2021. That would make it much easier for domestic leagues and the CL and EL to extend their seasons by up to a month- and mean games could be postponed now for a similar amount of time.

I don't think the UK peak is expected until around May time so I'm not sure if postponing games now especially helps here.

On a refereeing perspective, if Euro 2020 was delayed by 12 months then presumably a few referees would have stopped refereeing international games by then (I think I heard this was scheduled to be Brych's last season as a FIFA referee and Kuipers will be 48 next March.

As long as it doesn't go beyond the end of June (including the play-offs) when the majority of contracts would be up and the nightmare scenario that that would cause...

Chief Medical Officer just said he expects Uk peak to be 10-14 weeks away (i.e. mid May-mid June).

Peak expected to last around 3 weeks before gradually declining so extending season until June probably doesn't especially help.

Advice in Scotland is that gatherings of more than 500 should not take place from next week to free up the emergency services to deal with the coronavirus (BBC). Appears to be advisory only at the moment and decisions may be taken following UEFA's meeting on Tuesday, but this will presumably affect most (?all) League and Cup games in Scotland.

Surely this changes things? Wouldn't the whole first team squad now be in a 14 day isolation period, thus meaning they can't fulfill their fixtures?
