I've got a feeling that this weekend will see the last of "normal" matches in the UK. After that games will either be played behind closed doors or postponed. And I really can't see how the Champions League and Europa League will continue.
Not that stopping sport on its own will make much difference unless it's combined with things like school and college closures and many more people working from home.
That was last weekend in Hungary as it turns out!
Our Prime Minister declared a state of Emergency from 3pm today, limited flights in and out of Hungary, various curfews, no sports meetings of any kind with more than 100 present indoors and 500 outdoors, universities and schools being closed from tomorrow, visitors banned from hospitals a few days ago already. Federation have followed that up with announcing all matches will be behind closed doors, effective immediately, match officials, players, coaches & necessary staff (eg medical staff) only in the grounds. No press except for very limited M4sports staff (2-3 cameramen) who will live stream all the games (which they do on their website every week anyway). Commentators in studio not at ground, rest of the press will have to use the live streaming for reporting, no entry to grounds.
We only have 13 reported cases currently. 2 are British husband & wife, who had been in Italy & returned to Debrecen, a Hungarian couple in their 70's, 8 Iranian students & the girlfriend of 1 of them. Those 9 all known to each other. Szent Laszló hospital in Pest is the designated quarantine hospital. It has already been prepared & all other patients moved out. Disobeying going into isolation, if ordered to do so, has been declared a crime whilst the state of emergency is in force. Overkill maybe considering it's very low level here still but Mr Orbán is determined to stop it before it becomes a major problem & I respect that. He's protecting his country.
