Conti Cup Final

Well...I think I've watched one of the most blatant handball penalty decisions not given today! Given the recent high profile errors being made in WSL, I'm sure it won't be long before we see the introduction of VAR. Especially given how much the women's game is being pushed at the moment.

I've slowed it right down and it is impossible to see where it hits, I think there is a possible argument it is on the upper part of the arm, not sure VAR would be able to say it was an obvious error.  Also think the referee is very unlucky in her positioning as it looks like her view was blocked.

Is it also being introduced in the Championship, League 1, League 2 and the National League before then ?

There were reports a couple of weeks ago that a VAR light was being discussed for use in the Championship and WSL.

For me real time it's handball but her positioning is just unlucky and its one of those you just can't give because you can't see it

I can't see it being done quickly. Given that some of the matches are played on National League grounds, they would need to make the investment in getting the camera installed and wired up.

That's why they are saying VAR "lite", it would only use between one and three cameras and these can be set up before each game.  It would only be able to rule on the most obvious of obvious offside mistakes as lines couldn't be accurately drawn, and likewise it would probably be reserved for decisions that can only really be described as howlers as it won't have the multiple angles needed to give a high degree of confidence.
