Ten minutes on the clock, two big decision for Chris Kavanagh, one right and one wrong for me. The yellow for Grimes should have been red in my view, and the penalty.. well that's an easy one..

C KAVANAGH - The Championship Play Off Final
« Reply #1 on: Sat 29 May 2021 15:15 »
Surprised Woodman wasn’t given a yellow for taking out Mbuemo for the Brentford penalty, and the early yellow for the Swansea player Grimes for the nasty challenge could have been red.

Could be a challenging afternoon if the tackles keep flying in....

Oh and no Big Brother this afternoon 👍👍👍

The player is taken out but the ball has gone wide of the goal, no need for a caution, penalty and nothing more.

Lots of challenges flying about, the tolerance level has been spot on with the most severe challenge being cautioned, correctly.  Point of contact/force/ speed doesn’t support a red card there.

Grimes’s YC correct imo, penalty correct imo, but still below average performance in the first half imo.
Naughton committed 2 fouls and the second one totally deserved YC but no. 2 fouls from Canos too and he was very emotional but still no YC. Emiliano committed a foul which was a slight challenge for me in Swan’s half and was booked. For me all fouls were correct but Kavanagh seemed inconsistent.
Besides i’m worried that it looks like he’s losing control to the game...
Hope he can do better in second half.

There's enough doubt on the challenge to go yellow for me, certainly 4 minutes into such a big game.  Penalty was correct, and would only need a caution if it was deemed to be DOGSO caused by a genuine challenge for the ball.  I think he has knocked it too wide to say there was an obvious chance of scoring there.

I know referees like to let the game flow but advantage was signalled early on when swansea full back challenged by one with another two in close proximity and little chance of making a pass and lost possession.
Free kick should have been awarded. Not the best start. Foul detection a little random, grimes should have seen red two footed tackle both feet made contact one around calf, endangering an safety of an opponent.
Penalty correct and no sanction correct despite forward making a meal of it.
Canos and marcondes with a few swansea players lucky not to get yellow.
I wish players would refrain from trying to assist their opponents to back on their feet, usually causes flashpoints.
Hope the second half doesnt get out of control. A mixed bag so far, like his season as a whole.

Disgusting challenge from Fulton and a deserved red.... as clear an ankle breaker that one could see.....

This game could get out of control soon if as I said earlier the challenges keep flying in.

Have to agree TTFL nasty foul, i think him slipping made it worse, but the intent was there. Lots of heads have been lost now, hope kavanagh keeps his.

In my opinion, 4 minutes into a huge game or not, it was nailed on SFP and Grimes had to go.

The red card that was given and the penalty were spot on I thought.

According to the Swansea manager they did not get the breaks from the officials! Fulton would never have done what he did intentionally etc., etc.
They had 57% possession without 1 shot on target but it was the officials' fault! The mind boggles
Referee's decision used to be final!

Thought he was good. I thought red for Grimes as well but can see why he went yellow. Other 2 big decisions in the game both correct. Managed to keep a lid on things when it bubbled up. Can be pleased with his performance !

A very competent solid performance as expected, but it seems that dissent and time wasting were not really worthy of any sort of official concern. Having watched premier league and EFL matches all season I am now convinced that these two elements of the game don’t really “ count” at that level.
The apparent  habit of standing in front of the ball preventing a restart is now clearly acceptable to some officials. Consequently on a Sunday morning at junior level when observing I hear coaches shouting “ stand on the ball, stand on the ball” which players then do.
I thought the red card was spot on and I don’t think Swansea can complain about anything other than their own lack lustre performance in which they were beaten by a better team that clearly had the real desire to win one of the richest games in football.
