Charles Breakspear Tranmere Rovers v Yeovil Town
« on: Sun 30 Dec 2018 09:10 »
Mr Breakspear attracts attention for his prolific carding, but in that regard he was fairly subdued yesterday. Only 2 YCs produced, the first for Rovers Ridehalgh after a tussle for the ball and the Yeovil player had gone to ground with the trainer called on was shown well after the incident, almost as an afterthought and seemed a bit harsh. The one given to Yeovil’s Dickenson for a cynical trip was understandable. A number of other incidents which could have seen cards produced were let go, nothing in my view demanding a card.

I did find Mr Breakspear’s foul detection to be erratic. He’d blow up for the most minor of infringements and let more robust challenges go, while he rarely played advantage, which contributed to a stop-start game.

I like Mr Breakspear. Yes, his foul detection is a tad erratic at times but he strikes me as an official who just loves what he is doing, doing so in an honest manner.

I like him too, not perfect but certainly one of the best officials you will see in L1/2. Firm, fair even handed and largely accurate. Im always quite satisfied with his display.
