Carlos Del Cerro Grande : Germany vs England
« on: Tue 07 Jun 2022 20:35 »
It is only approaching half time but I’m happy to eat a large slice of humble pie and say Cerro Grande has been faultless , he’s not giving free kicks for the slightest touch , has let the game flow - he’s been l his excellent self that we have been accustomed to seeing in the Champions League and has fully justified his appointment so far

Just switched on at 35 minutes but where did 8 minutes added time come from?

It does seem like UEFA have a directive not to give ‘soft’ fouls in these games. I definitely saw it in Scotland - Ukraine, and it’s very obvious tonight. The game massively benefits, and this has been great to watch.

To answer above: Phillips injury x2 delays; VAR for an offside goal review for Germany; small delay for Sterling injury. I wasn’t counting, but the former two did take quite a while.

8 felt excessive, expected 5

I feel he has judged his involvement really well and it has helped the game no end.

Long may it continue

Was Kane not in an offside position?

Was Kane not in an offside position?

Didn't see a great replay of the last play of the ball towards him, he certainly looked off from the play before that. Can only assume the VAR checked, huge oversight if not.

Was Kane not in an offside position?

He looked to be in an offside position when the ball was first played, but it definitely took another touch before it went to him.  The camera didn't dwell on it so I wasn't able to see, but it could easily have been a deliberate defensive play.

Edit: Yes.  The ball was played deliberately by a German defender to play Kane onside.  This is why we need better pundits to cover these things.

Harry Kane was in an offside position when the first pass was played, but the ball was then deliberately played by a Germany defender.

Thus there can be no offside against Kane as the phase is reset.

According to Dale Johnson

I am not sure VAR should have got involved there. Based on the whole game if that happened anywhere but the box CDG would play on. Thought Kane may have been offside as well. The check was very quick so not sure how they checked that and the penalty.

Other than that Carlos Dell Cerro Grande was excellent

VAR has to get involved here.  VAR would not get involved outside the penalty area unless there's a red card decision to be made

As "right" as the penalty was it definitely didnt feel in keeping with the high tolerance the ref had shown all game.

I, also thought, he had an excellent game

Interesting how VAR Munuera got involved tonight but he didn’t in Ukraine vs Wales. In my view he got both wrong. I don’t thing the referee himself was convinced by the penalty tonight, he looked at it for a while. It did take a while to actually find any contact.

He set a high tolerance level for fouls all game and it was undermined by the VAR.

Agreed Grande was excellent.
Another Harry Kane masterclass in how to be a passenger for 89 mins, score a penalty and then be hailed as some sort of superhero

Please explain how that was a deliberate pass?
