The process is that the 3 game ban for a standard OFFINABUS is applied.  The FA then decide whether that is sufficient or not, if they feel not an additional charge is raised.  The player / club then get a chance to accept the charge or request a personal hearing, I believe they requested this but it hasn't happened yet.  Mitrovic saying he accepts his 3 game ban absolutely does not mean they he won't get more.
The three game ban, given Fulham's fixture list, means he is not available for selection until 22 April.  There is no rush here.  Follow due process, use the time available and come up with an appropriate sanction rather than a knee-jerk reaction.
Or a more cynical outlook take your time hope people forget and quietly move on
In checking when Mitrovic would become available again after his ban I noticed that a ten-game ban (as mooted by Chris Sutton at the time of the offence) would see him becoming available for the final league game of the season: Manchester United v Fulham!  Now who would be a good bet to referee that one?  ;)

8 games in total for Mitrovic

3 for RC, 3 extra for "being insufficient punishment" and 2 more for his reaction after red card

Thoughts?

Not enough, in my opinion. Evidently, the FA thinks similarly, as an appeal is likely.

Whilst it's less than some have speculated, compared to previous sanctions (and non-sanctions) it's pretty harsh and it will be interesting to see if other bans are now forthcoming for further incidents of bad behaviour by players and team officials.

Should be a lot more but at least it’s something.

The minutes, including who was sitting on it, will be published on the FA's website within a week or two.  The outcome of all hearings are.

Was hoping for 10 games, but at least they've more than doubled the initial sanction and all but ended his season.  It's a fine line as if they go too harsh it will just get reduced on appeal.

He'll be available for Fulham's last 3 PL games if the ban of 8 stands; however, in my opinion, he shouldn't be. His season should be over. If the FA confirms its initial intention to appeal on the grounds of too lenient a punishment, it'll be interesting to see the outcome.

Grandad wants a longer ban… I’d be surprised if it wasn’t increased myself.

The problem in increasing the ban to reflect the current problems in grass root football is that the FA has not given any recent updated guidance on what professional players can expect should they push a referee. Therefore an independent commission is bound by precedent and not what people would like now. The FA really should take a lead here and make it clear what length of suspension can be expected at the top level. Lawyers for Fulham could tear apart the case for increasing the suspension citing previous guidance (or lack of) and precedence which of course reflected earlier times.
My opinion is that 10 matches is the least he should serve but is that supportable in law?

As much as I would like to see 100 games ban (Joke joke!), personally I don't see the point in the FA appealing this just to be seen as "taking a big stance" because this Independent Panel were working within the FA's framework.

What the FA need to do is review their own framework during the summer by increasing sanctions on all misconducts including surrounding referees.  Then the Independent Panel will have opportunities to hand out bigger sanctions.

I would argue that Mitrovic's actions were worse than Di Canio's and he got 11 games.  Di Casio pushed Alcock who dived(!), then turned and walked off.  Mitrovic pushed Kavanagh then eyeballed and shouted at him in a very aggressive manner.

Deserved. A further Ł65,000 added to their existing debt figure.

Why was that photo used with the article as it doesn't relate to the actual incident and relates to the aftermath of Willian getting his red card?
