I have just watched the clip and conclude that each of the red cards shown was thoroughly justified and that Breakspear would have been been in dereliction of his duty in not showing them.

It is quite true that certain referees tend to always head the table in number of cards issued. From years ago a referee called Parker from Preston had a similar distinction. Why this should be is open to speculation. Perhaps certain referees have lower acceptance thresholds of what merits a caution or sending off or perhaps they are particularly mindful of not bottling decisions.

    ....... of course it's always possible that some incidents resulting in red cards, justifiable in themselves, could have come about as the result of poor refereeing earlier in the match.
