Bristol City vs Sheffield Wednesday
« on: Sun 07 Oct 2018 21:51 »
A baffling performance by Andy Davies today.  Completely random foul interpretation, one minute a trip would be a foul, the next minute an identical situation would be play on.

The most bizarre situation though was late in the game when Bristol City defender Webster went down with a head injury inside Wednesday's penalty area.  The referee played on for ages as Bristol City continued to attack, with the attacking team having ample time to put the ball out of play.  The ball then broke to Wednesday in the left back position and still he played on, they played the ball to Penney who was totally clear on the left wing and only then did he stop play for the head injury.  That was refereeing I would criticise a level 7 for, as head injuries should be stopped straight away.  If you do play on to give the attack a chance to succeed, not advisable for a head injury, you certainly then stop play as soon as it breaks down, not wait until the opposition break into the other half.  Not surprisingly this caused a very adverse reaction from Wednesday's players.
