Brentford vs Spurs - David Coote

I cannot understand how neither David Coote nor the VAR Stuart Attwell thought that Ben Mee fouled Kane in the box. It is a blatant pen and one that should fall into the category of clear and obvious.

Not even close enough to the clear and obvious bar that Howard Webb wants.  Possibly a penalty yes, although with a combination of more physical play being allowed and less VAR interventions those types of challenges probably won't get given.

Sorry, I disagree. From the very brief highlights I saw, it looked like "mutual wrestling" to me with both players equally guilty.

That was Dermot's judgement on Sky's "Ref Watch".  Stephen Warnoock's view (as a former defender) was that Ben Mee had "lost" Kane and was guilty of too much holding to get him back (so to speak).

My, view - for what it is worth - is that either decision would not have seen VAR intervene.  Another "Umpire's Call"; and judging by the smoke signals coming from PGMO Towers, it will not be the last.  Maybe we'd better start getting used to them?
