I too am glad that, for now at least, the idea is dead.

I have to say I am somewhat amazed by the hero worshiping of players for in my opinion quite mildly expressing a stance against the super league. If any player were to come out in support of the league they would have been met with massive criticism so I don't quite understand how expressing the opposite opinion earns them so much praise. Furthermore I didn't actually see any player or manager say explicitly they would not play/manage in it if it went ahead, just that they hoped it didn't, I got the feeling that a major issue for some players, quite reasonably, was that they weren't given advance notice. I wonder if they had would that have influenced a small numbers position on the matter.

I know it is easy to engage in player bashing and I don't want to do that as obviously they can't control the reaction to their actions, I am just at a loss at the level of praise for what are to me, quite minor dissensions that came when the idea seemed already to be dead in the water or close to it.
