I still won't be renewing my Arsenal supporters club membership.
Been gradually falling out of love with football.........VAR hasn't helped!!!

I understand.  I reached that point the more successful AFCB became, you'd think years of bailiffs and being in L1 & 2 dreaming of a better future for your club would lead to loving it actually happen. Instead I watched my club become less and less of being my club and more and more of a corporate money machine and I hated it.  It was my love for the sheer simplicity and randomness of the NBI that restored my love of football. I went from just watching Kassai's games or the highlights of his games 10/12 years ago to the current place of watching every single game every week.  I've not missed a single NBI game in 5 years. Even when I have been out in Hungary for games I catch up on all the other games I might miss live either on the TV channel as they get repeated during the week or on the sports channel website where videos of the games remain available for 3/4 months. The PL can keep it's millionaires I'll be sticking to my imperfect league with it's tactically questionable players and several moments of comedy gold - normally down to the defenders (and I use the term loosely) who play for my team! I hope you find something, a non league team or obscure league somewhere, that restores your love & passion for the game.
Doesn't help that I support Bristol Rovers too lol

bmb --I sincerely jope that VAR doesn't spoil your enjoyment of your league!
I am happy to report that I still maintain a Season Ticket at Ashington in the Northern League, as well as my Burnley one. In fact Ashington have told fans that they can use their 2020/21 season ticket for the coming season because of the current season having been scrapped.  Great gesture because they are not rolling in cash, in fact, many fans have decided to pay for next season anyway so that the  club can benefit.

Proper football without the greed and with officials being allowed to get on with their jobs without any outside interference!

It is amazing how something like this galvanised people and then how politicians jumped on the bandwagon of popularism. Within months we will get reform of football driven by Government ceding to the masses and finally doing something. Good. Very good.
In the last 6 months I have lost my parents to Covid19 and my mother in law too. I have witnessed first hand the awful care system in this country and the inability of the NHS to deal with the elderly in a dignified manner. Our care system needs billions invested and we need an explanation why thousands of elderly people died unnecessarily early, alone, frightened and unaware of how much they were loved. Will something get done? No. Will independent care commissioner be appointed. No. Several independent reports have stressed the inadequate funding of our social care system yet nothing gets done. There is no Rashford or Neville to campaign for this group yet as soon as they speak the Government do something. It wins votes. In all this fiasco we need to get our priorities right. No-one died.

Brilliantly put failed ref, and I am sorry for your loss like many across the country and the world.
Interestingly, some media commentator making the excellent point that Boris and his cronies managed to make room in their diaries to sort out this ESL mess but have had no room in the last 6-8 months to meet bereaved families of those lost to COVID.

You are spot on about priorities!

Sorry for your loss Failed ref.

You are so right about priorities and I have been reading a lot of tweets saying very similar.  Where is the similar outrage at poverty, the police and NHS being systematically decimated to where they can no longer provide more than the bare minimum, the state of education due to cuts and the wrong priorities of successive education ministers who manage to paint teachers as lazy militants, the treatment of disabled and mentally ill people, discrimination being so prevalent, the list is endless and that's before you even start on the whole covid issues. Maybe it can have a knock on effect, the "little people" have seen by standing together they can enforce change so maybe just maybe they will stand together on other issues as well, who knows.  I think people have felt so hopeless for so long that they have lost the will to fight, I'd love for this to spark a motivation in everyone to stand up more often instead of just wearily accepting our lot in life. Reality is it probably won't but...

I see the sanctions have now been announced against the 9 clubs who withdrew from the SL idea.

Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Atlético Madrid have all signed a commitment to recommit to UEFA and will be allowed to qualify for next season's tournaments. They are committed to contributing a 15 million Euro fund to benefit youth and grassroots football across Europe. According to the article in the guardian some club owners, including those at Tottenham, Manchester United and Arsenal, are reported to have agreed to pick up the tab for the fines themselves.

Starting in 2023-24, the nine clubs will be subject to the withholding of 5% of the revenues they are due to receive for their participation in UEFA club competitions for one season, which will all be reinvested into youth and grassroots football in local communities across Europe, including the UK.

Finally, as a way to deter consideration of joining breakaway competitions in the future, the clubs have all agreed to have fines imposed if they seek to play in an unauthorized competition (€100 million) or if they breach any other commitment they have entered into in the Club Commitment Declaration (€50 million).

Sanctions against the hold out 3 Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Juventus yet to be announced.

That isn't strictly true.  They have been fined €15 million, and will have 5% of their UEFA competition revenues withheld for one season.  The money will be distributed to children's and grassroots football across Europe.

What happens to the three clubs that haven't backed down, and today issued a statement saying they won't abandon the ESL, is anyone's guess.  I suspect if they don't back down they will be kicked out of European competition.

I do like this part. I hope some is also invested in young referees - the 14-18 age group in particular.

True but Ł15 million when a club like man United which makes Ł450-500 million revenue every year is peanuts !

Was the Ł15 million ont a total amount divided by the clubs --or did I misunderstand this? It is peanuts and just a slap on the hand.

I get the impression it is is between them as opposed to each.  Any supermarket own value brand peanuts, not even a bag of kp honey roasted peanuts!
