Artur Dias - disaster
« on: Thu 29 Apr 2021 21:20 »
What the hell is going on? Dias has lost control. Hasn't had control since the start. Foul detection has been poor. Saka getting hacked down, looks like going to play advantage arsenal lose ball; doesn't call it back. Then for some reason had second yellowed Ceballos for a nothing foul.

Someone may correct me but I believe it has been a disaster this evening for a normally amazing referee

I am watching the utd game Artur Dias was poor in the utd match in the last round sounds like he’s had the same sort of night , mind you Cerro Grande hasn’t fared much better either

Seems like an exciting game, unlike ours. Dias has just made it a 10 v 10. This one easily clear cut. Hopefully if he is having a mare he just gives arsenal 2 penalties

Is that the nothing foul where he stands on the players ankle/foot?  That is always going to be a yellow card, accidental or not.

I've been watching the NBI games so not seen the game and can't comment overall but I have seen footage on twitter where a player was given a 2nd yellow for standing on someone's ankle/foot. I think it was the Arsenal game although they were in blue and I thought Arsenal wore red so it might not even be the same game!

Could be fun at the Euros then? The Spanish pair are unpredictable; Hategan was unconvincing in Prague with Rangers and in Manchester; Grinfeld lost plot in Glasgow and wasn’t much better in Albania. We have some relatively untried with Kovács, Siebert and Ekbert and Orsato has the most annoying whistle ever and is somewhat overrated IMO. Not wildly convinced by Taylor either. A lot will be resting on Cakir, Bryce and Kuipers.
Feel sorry for Willie Collum

Imo it is a nothing foul, you may think otherwise and I don't even think he touches his ankle, literally just his boot.

He's late and catches his standing foot, that is always going to be a caution in Europe.

IMO not a red card, felt bad for capoue who went off injured, looked a bad one tbf in the challenge that he was finally second yellowed for. PK all day though. I was annoyed about first PK decision but it was correct, clearly Pepe handles the ball, accidentally yes, but still handball.

Caballos was lucky not to be sent off for that foul just after half time so he knew he was on the edge. Penalty never going to be overturned but as Phil says looks like defender pulls his leg away. 2 semi finals and two below average performances

I agree, suprised he wasn't off then. Maybe he wasn't second yellowed for the foul itself maybe for the amount of fouls instead, possibly Dias has warned him on that foul and said one more and you're gone. If he's been second yellowed for that, then that is the correct decision. However, if for the foul itself, i think it is a mistake.

Thats fair enough, for me he didn't but we all have different viewpoints.

I agree both performances way under par.

Agree i think it looks like a penalty in real time and was never going to be overturned anyway

Did VAR get to see the camera angle looking down the pitch (an agle the on field referee did not have) where it was clear that Saka initiated the contact? In which case it was an obvious initial error and a YC for simulation.
