world cup break

as a matter of interest - during the break will the full-time refs be officiating in league 1 and 2 ot will they have  the break as well   - if they do move to league 1 and 2 it seems a little unfair on the present 1 and 2 officials

I would imagine SG2 will get one or two games per week like they usually do.  I'd be surprised if SG1 get many games, though they may get the odd one here and there (probably for those who aren't getting regular games like Scott/Bramall).

However "unfair" PGMOL will want their full time officials used and kept match sharp, especially in the run up to the 'return'. I would imagine seeing a few used each week.

Surely, it's unfair on the clubs and paying customers not to use the best referees available for their matches.

I’m sure nemesis will be delighted to welcome quality officials like Marriner and Gillett to Portman Road.

Indeed, Gillett in particular. The last time I saw Marriner do a League One match was at Millwall and I'm afraid he was, unusually, woeful.

Funny you mention his name. Jarred Gillett along with two English Assistant Referees will be refereeing Everton v Celtic on Saturday night in Sydney.

Totally irrelevant but Ashton Utd apparently offered some games to Erlin Haaland during the World Cup, EH surely being the top player not going to the finals. Not sure whether the offer has been accepted!

Hence RCG's inverted commas, no doubt.

Verbal irony is clearly wasted on those from the Gong.
