Anthony Taylor- Sweden v Norway
« on: Sun 05 Jun 2022 20:48 »
It appears Anthony Taylor has unfortunately made another poor PK decision as it’s clear as day that no foul has been committed here.
However is it any wonder we have no English VAR’s going to the World Cup when Attwell doesn’t intervene here. Terrible from all involved.

At the risk of being criticised and / or accused of blinkered viewing it was only on seeing the "penalty" in slow motion and from a different angle that I had any doubt.
VAR failed again

I'm Norwegian and I was very surprised when he pointed at the spot and not the other way for diving.
The Swedes are not pleased after the game. Their manager said it was a horrible decision and and the big Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet wondered if the guys in the VAR bus was on crack!

But now I'm very happy we beat Sweden in a game that counts for the first time since 1977!

That is poor from Taylor as from that video showed he had a good position to see it, but really really poor from atwell to not overturn it

I have sometimes wondered if UEFA VAR is a bit overrated. It has seemed to me for some time that there is very little intervention, although I'd be interested to know any statistics. Obviously the general standard of refereeing is probably higher than most leagues because you theoretically should have the best in Europe so the initial decision making is likely to be better. But on occasions when mistakes are made I'm not sure the VARs are terribly good at correcting them.
