Andy Madley - Chelsea v Nottingham Forest
« on: Sat 05 Jan 2019 18:02 »
Not the best performance from Madley today, there were a couple of penalty appeals before the one that was given.  However:

1. How Forest had 10 men on the field I will never know: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46706906

2. Penalty 100% correct although how much encroachment is allowed for the penalty?  Maybe because both teams were at it he ignored it but wasn't great to see.

What about the scene with Morata on the 1st half? Foul + RC for DOGSO or play on? Looked a foul to me.
I know that I know nothing

As much as you like, just as with every referee. This Law is totally ignored. Why?  No idea.

Perhaps he isn’t as good as people say. Not the first poor game recently. Getting the big decisions wrong.

I’ve only seen the highlights but the only decision that looked iffy was the potential DOGSO with Morata. The problem with that at speed is that it’s very hard to see who catches who... Morata’s heel does seem to catch the defender rather than the other way round? I always think that these sort of situations accrue it would be harsh to send a defender off when he isn’t actually making a challenge for the ball, merely running behind a man.

Tough at real speed. And he seemed to get everything else correct.
