John Brooks - Norwich v Forest

Oh dear, what a shocker. Not sure what I can actually say, poor, awful, out of his depth, a rabbit caught in headlights, I will just say it was on a par with Simon Hooper's finest performance.

Should have sent Norwich's Stiepermann off after 30 mins and then obviously decided he had made a mistake and then every decision went to Forest.

Missed a blatant handball by a Forest defender in their penalty area, although the assistant should be embarrassed he didn't help, the defender was already on a yellow so should have had a second.

There was a minor scuffle between two players who went head to head, both should have booked, he somehow managed to book the Norwich player but not the Forest player who happened to be on a yellow,

He missed so many off the ball tugs and trips by in the main Colbeck who eventually got booked for persistent infringements but could easily have had 2 for the number he did.

He eventually booked Pantilimon in the 95th minute when it should have been 55th minute, for the usual time wasting.

When the final board was due to go up I thought it should be at least 8, but he will probably put 6, so that was about the only thing he got right!!

Ironically enough [ please refer to my own post regarding the non "goal"] we at Sunderland had Darren England taking charge.
Midway through the second half our centre half Tom Flanagan brought the ball out from deep in our defence and went on a mazy run and found himself around 30 yds from the Bradford goal before being tackled [ perfectly fairly] by a defender.
The defender then "held" Flanagan back by his foot to prevent him trying to get back and defend the subsequent attack by the Bradford player and a bit of a scuffle ended up with pushing and shoving.
YC was right for Flanagan without question, and yet the perpetrator got clean away with it.The player himself was already on a YC.

Not a very good day at the office at all for the officials.

 Good comeback by Norwich.

COMPLIMENTS OF THE SEASON.

Can only comment on the highlights as shown on Quest. I thought there was a foul before the ball was played into the penalty area prior to the handball (both very visible from the touchline). Whichever official gave the referee the information about the head to head confrontation needs to be taken to task, both players should have been cautioned. Even from the briefest of highlights decisions appeared to be challenged quite openly and somewhat vociferously. A learning curve for our young, talented referee

Separate issue: attackers retrieving the ball after a goal - this should be banned! I lost count of the number of games which had confrontations following late goals
