A MARRINER - Man City v Burnley
« on: Mon 22 Jun 2020 21:02 »
The usual unfussy show from Marriner, but yet again we are talking about the total incompetence of these VAR officials. A harsh penalty for a foul ( in the loosest terms imaginable) on Aguero.

Clearly picking up these minor offences is more of a priority for VAR than spotting when the ball crosses  the goaline.

Was amazed it even went for a review, and even more so that the penalty was awarded. Nothing clear nor obvious about it, imo.
David Silva olé.

Don't be surprised, it always happens to Burnley at the Etihad.
Two seasons ago, the ball went over the goal line, was retrieved by a City player and played inside to Bernard Silva who then left his foot out and fell over Nick Pope. Jon Moss awarded a penalty!
Decisions like this really knock the stuffing out of you when you are battling, which is all we can do against City, however, that one tonight was just another one to put in the book. Would it have been given at the other end? Would it even have been reviewed at the other end?
Referee's decision used to be final!
