well done to the new refs on getting promoted
lets hope they get some good appointments when the new season starts
Very much agreed referee12. I know that every referee needs different management but I do hope they don't fall into the trap of under appointing as seems to be the blanket approach (more or less) post Atwell. I think the likes of Jones and Hooper have really suffered from this, it can't be easy to get to the tempo of the EPL when you only get one game a month+.
The likes of Brooks and Gillett I would hope can be appointed a little more frequently from the off. Brooks has extensive experience as a EPL AR (may be true of some others, I don't know) and Gillett has extensive experience in the A-League, as a FIFA referee and as a VAR in both A-League and EPL. Frankly, given his performance in the playoff SF I think he could have been promoted sooner. I take the point you can't judge from one game but I don't believe a performance that good can be a fluke.
The best thing about 4 new, relatively young referees in the EPL is that, I really hope anyway, it will create competition around selection for the FIFA list which previously seemed to be a right for all EPL refs given age and 1 season on the list.
