Quite how they will be able to find Level 4s to cover their top division as well remains uncertain.
At the moment they have level fours on the line at their top division games.  Some will be needed to help cover the lines on the additional northern step four division but they can use half of them to cover their refereeing requirements.

On a separate issue, I am not sure if it has been mentioned elsewhere on the forum but last week level fours were sounded out about whether they would be interested in becoming specialist assistant referees.

I echo your sentiments JCFC

I’m interested in promotion candidates: please can someone explain how it works currently as it differs from location to location.
If someone is going 5-4 or 6-4 they would referee on regional leagues like the Manchester League or the Cheshire League or the Central Mids League.
When they then become 4s they go onto the combined counties, the NWCFL or the central mids prem. How is that going to change or is it going to change?

My understanding is this won't change, supply league referee's will still referee supply league football and county referees will referee county football - just that the pools will change shape/size. In the NW for example I can foresee a merger of referees between the combined and NWC pool, either as 2 different sized pools or 1 large pool.

That aside, what will be interesting to see in the north west is that 'county referees' will now potentially need to referee 2x leagues that were formally refereed by supply league PLUS be assistants for a league that formally had L4 assistants (NWC Prem).

We don't know anything for certain and we are only speculating on a forum, but I know I wouldn't want to be an appointments officer! !

Thanks for the insight - personally I think nwc prem games should be reffed by level 4s with 5s on the line, and then lower level ref can line in the north and south
