Classic line from one of the commentators on Friday night, can't remember now which of the 3 games it was but regarding a player getting a YC for dissent he said "his constant complaining was not in vain, he has been rewarded with a yellow card"

It would appear bmb's pleas somehow found their way to the lovely Mr Solymosi's ears and he turned out looking mighty fine in red!

MOL Fehérvár 2-1 Paks
Referee: Farkas Ádám - black shirt
YC:7; YYR:0; RC:0; Pen:0

Highlight of the first half was the Paks drummers. MOL Fehérvár went in at half time 1-0 up thanks to a Petryak Ivan goal – it was literally the only highlight in the first half! 2nd half was much better, plenty of flowing football on display from both teams and more chances. Ádám Martin equalised in the 69th minute, either side of his goal (55 & 74) there were VAR reviews for possible penalties to Paks – neither was given. Ádám Martin also had a goal correctly disallowed for offside on 77 mins. Kodro getting the winner for MOL Fehérvár in the 84th min. Enjoyable 2nd half for the neutral although Bognár György will be disappointed to have not got at least a draw. One bizarre moment that you don’t see often – Fehérvár wanted to make a substitution, Hangya Szilveszter left the pitch only to be given a yellow card for leaving the field of play without the referees permission. Correct in law & a lesson to players – wait until the referee signals for the substitution to take place-seeing the ARs flag or the fourth official holding up the board does not mean the referee has given his permission for it to go ahead – play to the whistle as the saying goes!

Mezőkövesd Zsóry v Újpest
Referee: Solymosi Péter
YC:4; YYR:0; RC:0; Pen:1

Thoroughly enjoyable game to watch. Each team scoring twice – one for themselves and one for the opposition! Plenty of pretty football on display and 2 teams very evenly matched. A draw was a fair result overall. Tallo missed the opportunity to seal the points for Lilák with a mediocre penalty at 90+2. that was fairly easily saved by Bazsányi Péter. Lilâk reman rooted to the bottom of the table but there are at least some positive signs. Steady game from team ref.

The lovely Mr Solymosi wore red because he is awesome! That's 3 games out of 4 this season he has worn red - he deserves his #1 spot.  Important in terms of his shirt stats as well - the shirt stats only go back as far as 2012/13 but in 182 games (as referee) since then he has worn black 59 times, blue 42 times, red 41 times and the vile rag 40 times. The red shirt yesterday finally moved red wearing ahead of vile wearing & long may that continue! Next target is for red shirts to move above blue! Maybe I need to suggest to Tóth I Vencel that Mr Solymosi should not be allowed to retire until red is is top spot. 19 games to go for that assuming no black in amongst them - 22 games left this season... Nagyszerű vagy, Péter!

MTK Budapest 1-1 DVSC
Referee: Káprály Mihály
YC:4; YYR:0; RC:0; Pen:0

He wore yellow.... Last time he did so he got dropped for 4 weeks (as did Andó-Szabó when he wore yellow) - double punishment this time please MLSZ!

First half was a bit meh. Neither team playing badly but neither team looking particularly dominant either. 2nd half was livelier, both teams playing some nice football but very little in terms of the final third. Poor defending cost Loki early in the first half, an equaliser coming from Ferenczi János midway through the 2nd half. MTK looked the more likely team to steal a winner but were unable to convert their chances.

Gyirmót FC Győr 0-2 Ferencváros
Referee: Pintér Csaba
YC:3; YYR:0; RC:0; Pen:0

The only referee not to be dropped for 4 games after wearing yellow... To be fair though he is having a great season.

A very dull first half… 2nd half was a much better one to watch. Fradi though barely got out of neutral, hopefully they are saving themselves for their midweek game v Celtic in the Europa League. Despite the scoreline they didn’t particularly dominate the game but they did enough. It was good to see Tokmac back on the scoresheet. Gyirmót gave their all and had some decent chances, they’re just not strong enough though. Shame because they seem a nice club and Csertői Aurél is a very likeable manager.  Easy one for team ref.

Kisvárda Master Good 5-0 ZTE
Referee: Bognár Tamás - black shirt
YC:0; YYR:0; RC:0; Pen:0

Move over Fradi – Kisvárda want top spot back. We saw our first instance of VAR doing what GLT does – a review to see if the ball had crossed the line seeing a goal awarded to Kisvárda. Kálnoki Kis Dávid’s clearance coming after the ball had already crossed the line. 8 mins later VAR was called on again – review for a possible penalty for ZTE – decision no penalty. 6 mins later Navratil Jaroslav got his 2nd to double the Kisvárda lead. No need for VAR that time. Half time Kisvárda went in 2-0 up. 2nd half was slower paced, Kisvárda showing how to see out a game, ZTE weak and devoid of ideas. Driton Camaj is the definition of an impact sub, coming on in the 69th min and goals on 73, 82 & 86 seeing him with a hattrick within 15 mins of being on the pitch! ZTE there just to make up the numbers by this point!

Despite the hammering, both teams were an absolute credit in terms of behaviour & sportsmanship. No surprise the game was cardless. Bognár was able to remain quietly in the background and let the game flow around him. Stepped in when needed but was a quiet calming presence for the vast part.  He'll have enjoyed this one. No fault of his he didn't see the ball over the line, crowded penalty box, he was in a good position but there were about 14 players in his direct view & it was a very close call.  He did immediately ask VAR to review it (we don't have GLT). It took a couple of minutes and several angles to confirm the ball had wholly crossed the line.

Puskás Akadémia 3-1 Budapest Honvéd
Referee: Bogár Gergő
VAR: Solymosi Péter
YC:6; YYR:0; RC:1; Pen:1 + both coaches given yellow cards.

What a strange first half. Nono put Kispest ahead on 16, he was fouled in the box but stayed on his feet and got the shot away. Referee did signal for an advantage so had noted the foul and would potentially have pulled play back for a penalty had Nono not scored. Then Baluta fouled Machach and there were a few handbags thrown as a result. During the melee Nagy Dominik grabbed Baluta by the throat with both hands & was given a red card. Baluta was given a yellow card for the foul. Nagy Zsolt should also have been given a yellow but wasn’t - he grabbed Nagy Dominik around the neck, 1 handed, in response to him having grabbed Baluta. 3 mins later Kozák received a yellow for a push on Batik. Horváth Ferenc showed his ability to look and act professionally in the technical area is impossible and threw a tantrum, he was given a yellow card and responded by carrying on shouting and kicking the wall in temper – he was lucky to not see red. My teams' manager or not he should have been binned really. Plsek Jakub equalised for Felcsút on the stroke of half time. 2nd half started with Felcsút tactically fouling Nono – Nagy Zolt & Van Nieff both getting yellow cards for fouls on him. Injury to Klemenz on 60 saw him substituted off. Shame as he & Mezghrani were playing well together. Penalty to Felcsút after VAR review – handball by Nagy Gergő. Correct call & good spot from the VAR. Mezghrani adding to the woes with an own goal in the 88th min. Kispest still found the time to have a goal disallowed for offside. Everything that could go wrong for Kispest did – red card, giving away a penalty, scoring an own goal, having a disallowed goal & an unprofessional coach embarrassing himself & the team again! The players & fans deserve much better.

Difficult game for Bogár.  Felcsút are a dirty, sneaky team , always looking to try and con the referee and doing snidey fouls off the ball on their blindside. My team has a few thugs in it & can be very brutal in terms of tackles encouraged by a completely unprofessional disgrace of a coach. It's never going to be an easy game to referee.  2 calls wrong for me - Nagy Zolt missed yellow in the first half, as he got a yellow later that could have been his 2nd one although as it was tactically fouling he'd probably not have done so if already on a yellow. He also didn't seem to pick up on the tactical fouling on Nono - yes 2 players got booked but they were the really blatant fouls, he didn't have a word with the captain for example to say it had been noted & needed to stop. The other wrong call was not binning Horváth. Other than that he had a decent enough game. He's still young but his progression is fantastic and he overall handled a very difficult game very well.

Please dear god of football a new manager for Kispest asap

Interview with Viktor Kassai here: https://www.digisport.hu/51131/a-tekintelyt-nem-a-lapokkal-kell-megszerezni

It's in Hungarian though.

Did like this from him: " Authority doesn't have to be gained with cards. A referee who tries to gain authority with cards is on the wrong track. Authority is a human trait that you can earn with your personality, and therefore the referee must be determined to have authority on the field. even without cards ."

MTK Budapest v Gyirmót FC Győr
Referee: Pillók Ádám (black shirt)
YC:4; YYR:0; RC:0; Pen:0
4O: Solymosi Péter

The game started out as you’d expect from 2 sides down at the bottom end of the table and low on confidence. Some nice play in the middle of the park, a few basic errors and no oomph in the final third. Then Szegei popped up with a cracker of a goal. Gyirmót grew in confidence, MTK continued to endlessly faff with no real tactics on display. Simon made it 2-0 early in the 2nd half and Csonka made sure, his goal coming just 4 minutes after he had come on a sub. Despite their lowly position Gyirmót have been playing some nice football, they’ve simply lacked strength, tonight they found their strength. I criticised MTK when they sacked Costantino for their lack of patience – they have gone downhill since and look a complete shambles. Karma!

As to team ref - decent run out for young Mr Pillók. Not that much for him to do to be fair & what he did he did well. As to Mr Solymosi - I suspect his ears were burning during the 1st half as Missy bmb cussed him out for the grey top with yellow piping - yes he dared go there! A sheepish look towards the camera trained on him at half time & 2nd half he trotted out in a black & grey top! Lovely rapport with him and the benches, lots of laughing going on there for some reason between him, coaches and subs!

Mezőkövesd Zsóry 2-1 Paks
Referee: Antal Péter (black shirt)
YC:7; YYR:0; RC:0; Pen:0

Well fought game with little between the sides. Drazic Stefan put the home side 1-0up after 18 mins with a well worked goal. Vutov Antonio went down after a tackle and required prolonged treatment before being stretchered off – never nice to see. Kocsis Gergő Bence replacing him. The injury seemed to affect Mezőkövesd and Sajbán equalised for Paks a few minutes later. Half time 1-1. 2nd half was pretty much of the same. Jurina Marin with an absolute peach of a goal 15 mins after coming on as sub restoring the home teams lead. The game was missing the Paks drummers!

I love Antal's style.  He's such a happy, smiley referee and his rapport with the players is fantastic.  Despite 7 yellow cards, the game was not dirty, mostly silly stuff and being a bit late in tackles. The players clearly enjoy having him as referee, several instances where they are chatting and smiling with him and zero dissent.  Just a shame he's not 5 years younger as he'll never make FIFA at 35 already. Steady, safe pair of hands and controls the game with smiles and clear explanations of his decisions if needs be.

DVSC 5-3 Budapest Honvéd
2021.11.06 - 17:00
Referee: Karakó Ferenc (black shirt)
YC:5; YYR:0; RC:0; Pen:2

Szamosi Tamás in charge of Honvéd today as Horváth Ferenc is suspended for 1 match having reached 5 yellow cards. The technical area feels calmer & more professional… The team felt the benefit and looked much happier on the pitch. 22nd minute there was a VAR review for a possible penalty to Kispest, Deslandes Sylvain stamped on Mezghrani as he went over the ball. It was on the blindside of Karakó Ferenc. He undertook an OFR, gave the penalty, and booked Deslandes for the foul. Lukic Nenad put the visitors ahead. Just 4 mins later Bőle Lukács doubled the lead. 35th min Klemenz was late with his tackle just inside the box, Karakó immediately pointed to the spot. VAR review upheld the decision – it was blatant! Dzsudzsák Balázs pulling one back for Loki from the spot. The first half action didn’t end there. Before the stadium announcer could finish saying there was to be +3min TAO, up popped Bőle Lukács with his 2nd and Kispest’s 3rd. Half time Loki 1-3 Kispest.

2nd half was a complete turnaround. Whatever DVSC had in their half time cup of tea – I need some! 3 half time subs completely rejuvenated them & they were rampant. Goals from Ugrai, Dzsudzsák, Deslandes and Németh seeing them go from 1-3 down to 5-3 up. They will have thoroughly enjoyed the 2nd half – they were unstoppable. There could have been more goals for both teams but thankfully they stopped scoring before I ran out of fingers to count on! What an absolute cracker of a game. Credit also to the match officials who enhanced the game with a decent performance.

Game of the season so far!

Puskás Akadémia 2-1 Újpest
Referee: Berke Balázs (blue shirt)
YC:4; YYR:0; RC:0; Pen:2

What a dreadful game. I guess the positive is that I can sell copies of it as a cure for insomnia… That’s it – no more to say!

Team ref were fine, no complaints. 2nd penalty was subject to a very long VAR review - it was 5 mins between the foul, VAR speaking with Berke and him going to do an OFR and the penalty being taken. The OFR in itself took about 2.5-3 mins. There were some issues with the technology itself, it had failed earlier in the game and when he was at the screen he was quite animated and seemed to be speaking over the comms a lot.  That's the 2nd time it has failed - in the last round it failed at Mezőkövesd. Would be interesting to know if it was the same van that has failed 2 weeks on the trot.

Kisvárda Master Good v Ferencváros
Referee: Farkas Ádám blue shirt
4O: Solymosi Péter
YC:3; YYR:0; RC:1; Pen:0

Very enjoyable game to watch. Overall the teams were evenly matched but Fradi’s quality shone through. They’re a more experienced and expensive team and it showed at times. Loncar Stjepan put the away team ahead on 28, against the run of play it has to be said. Kisvárda never gave up though. Mmaee Samy gave away a free kick in a dangerous position, Kisvárda scored. VAR review for offside – very tight call – several red shirts were fractionally ahead of the black shirts and the goal was correctly disallowed for offside. Half time: Kisvárda 0-1 Ferencváros

Kisvárda started the 2nd half brightly, they came out fighting and created several chances in the opening few minutes. Fradi stood strong and defended well. Challenge by Leoni on 53. saw him given a yellow card – feet very high. VAR review with an OFR taking place. Only 1 way these tend to go and today was no different, yellow card withdrawn and he was given a red. It took the wind out of Kisvárda's sail and Fradi dominated. 2 cracking goals from Uzuni, plus one from Marin saw Fradi easily end up 4-0 winners and reclaim top spot.

Steady game for Farkas & team. The lovely Mr Solymosi learned form his 1st half error on Friday and wore a black tracksuit top today!

Mol Fehérvár v ZTE
Referee: Bogár Gergő black shirt
YC:5; YYR:0; RC:0; Pen:0

For a 3-0 win it’s not a game that really felt exciting, it was rather flat to be honest. That could partly be down to following the Kisvárda v Fradi game which was a great game. Plenty of nice flowing football on display and it was in no way a dire game in fairness. Nicely taken goal by Kodro opened the scoring for the home team on 18 mins, Petryak doubling the lead with a nice goal on 37. Vidi going in 2-0 at the break. Dárdai finished the game off with the hosts 3rd goal on 54. 2 situations of note – Nikolic putting the goal in the net for Vidi on 80 but Albert István’s flag was up. VAR check confirmed Albert had got it spot on and the goal was disallowed. Excellent call by him on a tight offside. Then Petryak.. Went down way too easily looking for a penalty – the camera zoomed in on his face & his expression giving it away! He failed to win the free kick & should have possibly been yellow carded for simulation. A few seconds later there was a bit of tussle between him and 2 ZTE players, he had a bit of a paddy for not getting his own way and was rewarded quite rightly with a yellow card. I wonder what category being a childish brat comes under! It’s such a shame he has that side to him because he really is a cracking player & a joy to watch when he just gets on and plays. Petryak’s shenanigans aside Vidi were well worth their 3-0 win.

Our Federation President, Csányi Sándor has given a long interview with portfolio.hu, it's mostly business stuff about OTP bank & agricultural stuff but they did ask some football related questions.

Full English version article here

Among the matches of the Hungarian national team this year, the amazing match against the French, the Germans or even the English was on one side, of which we can be really proud, and on the other, the fan riots, racist scandals and the closed stadium matches. How do you experience this duality?

It is very sad that tens of thousands are unable to attend matches because of a ten of hundreds of disruptions, because the stadiums will be closed. The procedure for both UEFA and FIFA was very strict, overall I feel we would deserve a little less punishment. [Meant in the context of the scumbag fans being less than 1% of the overall fanbase] At the same time, it is true that there is a precise set of rules for disciplinary matters, which also limits the room for manoeuvre of disciplinary committees quite a bit. There is zero tolerance for racist and other exclusionary manifestations, and unfortunately, even a single act of a fan can result in even a closed-door punishment. We need to adapt to this, and in addition to pursuing this behaviour in general, we need to find a way to keep these people away from the stadiums.

The phenomenon is not new, but so far it has not been possible to curb it.

There are consultations in this case, we are planning to introduce a vein scanner in the stadiums, we are trying to support the identity of the perpetrators with documents and evidence in a way that can be assessed by the courts. The biggest problem is that it is very difficult to make a sound recording in a stadium, to prove who said what, but you can clearly see who is throwing, who is provoking the players with monkey movements, and so on. We have agreed with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner that we will properly identify the disruptors and that those who bring heavy punishment on the necks of the supporters and the alliance will be banned from football pitches forever.

Until we can solve this, it has also been suggested that we may need to close the B-middle, [the sector where the Carpathian Brigade are] despite the fact that there are also a lot of fans out there who behave in a completely acceptable way and add a lot to the atmosphere of the stadium, to support the team. But it would still be a smaller loss than if 65,000 chairs were empty in the Puskás Arena.

He then goes onto talk about Marco Rossi, possible changes to the number of teams in the NBI and his dislike of the top NBI teams filling their squads with too many foreign players at the expense of Hungarian youth & how he believes that is detrimental t the National Team.

ZTE 1-1 Mezőkövesd Zsóry
Referee: Andó-Szabó Sándor - black shirt
YC:4; YYR:1; RC:0; Pen:2

To put it bluntly – first half if you stayed awake then you did well. 2nd half was at least an improvement and came with some drama. First up was a penalty to Mezőkövesd – Cseri stepped up to take it but Demjén went the right way and saved. Katanec managed to get himself booked twice in the space of 3 mins – early bath for him! 69. came the 2nd VAR review and this time a penalty to ZTE – Koszta Márk stepping up to take it, 1-0 ZTE. Waltner Róbert managed to get himself a yellow in the 74th min – all is well in the world. He’d behaved for a few weeks! A flurry of substitutions and then with 2 mins of the 5 added on played Nagy Dániel popped up with a lovely goal to tie the match.

Acceptable performance from team ref. Got the calls right. No complaints. Cards were spot on & none I felt missed

Paks 4-1 Puskás Akadémia
Referee: Karakó Ferenc - black shirt
YC:3; YYR:0; RC:0; Pen:0

The Paks drummers had plenty to bang about in the first half. Ádám Martin putting the home team ahead after 8 mins, Komáromi put the ball in the net 2 mins later but was offside so it didn’t count, Böde Dániel doubled the lead for the home team on 26 with an absolutely beautiful goal. Bognár István scoring in TAO at the end of the first half saw the home side go in 3-0 up at half time. After an entertaining first half the 2nd half felt a bit flat. Plsek put the ball in the net on 72, a lengthy VAR review followed, 2 players were offside and the question was whether Gera was obscuring the view of the goalkeeper. Referee Karakó carried out an OFR and the goal was disallowed. Corbu scored Felcsút’s only regular goal on 86. but Sajbán restored Paks 3 goal lead, scoring in the 89th min. Paks worthy winners.

Decent performance in terms of decision making from Karakó but he had started to relax a bit this season and build a better rapport with players. That was missing in this game. Hopefully just a one off because he has been performing well and I'd like to see that continue.
