Kisvárda Master Good 2-1 DVSC  Referee: Bognár Tamás

What an absolute cracker of a game. 2 teams intent on having fun and playing some lovely football. Bognár Tamás happy to stay in the background and let the game flow around him.  6 yellow cards in total - 2 that you'd not see in England - Bohdan Melnyik a YC for simulation & Dombó Dávid – time wasting. The latter was at 90+3 but the time wasting only started in the 89th min when Kisvárda went ahead. TAO was +5 and +6 was played so he took into account the time wasting and added an extra minute.

Ferencváros 3-1 Újpest  Referee: Bogár Gergő  4O: Solymosi Péter

Fantastic game to watch. Full of drama as you would expect from the big Budapest derby.

The lovely Mr Solymosi wore a gorgeous red tracksuit top as 4th official - yes this is the most important detail from the game! Last time out as 4O he wore a grey tracksuit top with yellow piping & a yellow mesh inside the hood and Missy bmb was far from amused. That fact appears to have found its way to his ears & he went for a gorgeous red top instead today, also making up for not being able to wear red in his match yesterday! You are now forgiven Péter!

Onto the actual game - never let it be said that my team are their own worst enemy... Banai with a dumb foul to give away a penalty after just 4/5 mins *sigh*. Diaby dumb foul just outside the pen box that saw him get a red for DOGSO. *sigh* 3 more yellow cards for my team in the 1st half & all correct. Silly foul by Antanov, silly foul by Kastrati and dissent from Nikola.  It was down to the coin throwing by Fradi fans - he claimed to have been hit by a coin and spoke with Teo on the far side, he was refusing to take the corner and kept picking up coins from the pitch. The ref went over and they had a discussion. Nikola handed him a bunch of coins, again refused to take the corner and carried on picking up coins. He wet in the book - the official reason "complaining" ie dissent as opposed to delaying the restart.  Mr Bogár did trot over to the technical area and handed whatever was being thrown to the lovely Mr Solymosi, who was in a very smiley mood today! I suspect this was in the knowledge he had chosen the perfect top & was very much in bmb's good books!   40th min Fradi were jumping up and down screeching for a penalty for handball - VAR replays clearly showing Tallo had headed the ball and it was nowhere near his hand. Referee correct in his on field decision. Tallo pulled one back for Lilák on 45+2 - another VAR review for offside. There was none - goal stood. It was literally the one & only thing my team did 1st half other than silly fouls, bookings, reds and giving away pens!

Onto the 2nd half and it was more of the same, Fradi dominating, my team following! At least they cut out the dumb fouls in this half. 54th min Tokmac given a YC for simulation - Fradi stamped their feet and screeched it was a penalty.  VAR agreed with the referee - no penalty & therefore also confirming the YC for simulation was absolutely spot on. Tokmac immediately subbed by Fradi's manager. 81st min Fradi had a goal chalked off by VAR for offside. Uzuni, the scorer did however manage to get his name on the scoresheet just 6 mins later with fradi's 3rd goal. Deserved victory for Fradi, our manager acknowledge afterwards we lost due to our own errors.

Team ref can be happy with their contribution.

Plenty of yellow this weekend 😂😂😂😂

41 games so far - black shirts - 29, blue - 5, red - 5, vile - 2! I think they are finally sick of my whining about it & begged everyone to not set me off on one!

Thank you Mr Tóth!

Budapest Honvéd 2-1 Kisvárda Master Good Referee: Bogár Gergő

Horrible game to watch. 5 mins of action at the start - Honvéd scoring an own goal after 2 mins and then equalising on 7. Klemenz with his 1st NBI goal. Then it was niggly foul upon niggly foul upon niggly foul until the 90th min! Very little chance for the game to flow. With literally seconds left on the clock Melnyik displayed player stupidity at its finest – he pulled back Machach, earned himself a YC, carried on with the pulling & added in dissent towards the referee earning himself a 2nd yellow card/red within a matter of seconds, gave Kispest a free kick in a dangerous area and Machach said thank you very much and scored an absolute peach of a goal to win the game with the last kick of the game. Not a game where the blue clad Mr Bogár could shine - not down to him. When players are intent on nothing but little niggly fouls you just have to go with the flow, or lack of it! He was fair & consistent in dealing with it all & no surprise the game ended with 10 YC & 1 YYR. Best part of the game was the final whistle!

Újpest 1-3 Gyirmót FC Győr Referee: Berke Balázs

Oh dear Lilák.  I can't say what I really think or I'll have to put myself on moderated posts and report to the naughty step! Not good enough simply. To those ultras who forced Nebojša out of the club with their abuse & death threats - thanks! Gyirmot deserved the win. Highlight of the match was a skirmish between Beridze & Ikic on the touchline.  Lots of pushing and shoving & got very heated. Mr Berke got in between them and still they carried on. Mr Berke being a feisty dude got hold of Ikic and literally physically removed him from the area. A very forceful shove that could have backfired but he was so in control & had the respect of the players that it worked to bring them to their senses and stop. Not a technique I'd recommend to other refs but it worked for him today. A few words between him and the Gyirmot bench, some shouting and finger pointing, including by him! His point was made, the coaches sat back down quietly and it calmed down again.  Both players were booked.

The lovely Mr Solymosi was hidden away in the VAR van for this one.

Puskás Akadémia 2-0 Mezőkövesd Zsóry Referee: Pintér Csaba

That game where all fans want both teams to lose! Felcsút 1-0 up at half time. Highlight of the match is Mr Pinter in red! 2nd half highlight was 1 man shouting Hajrá Puskas and another one shouting Oh do shut up! Easy game for Mr Pintér - it was dire!

DVSC v Mol Fehérvár Referee: Vad II. István

Vad in blue. His first game since May 2021. He only managed 6 NBI games last season, 9 in 2019/20, 11 in 18/19, 9 in 17/18...  His last full season was in 2016/17!

DVSC v Mol Fehérvár Referee: Vad II. István

Vad in blue. His first game since May 2021. He only managed 6 NBI games last season, 9 in 2019/20, 11 in 18/19, 9 in 17/18...  His last full season was in 2016/17!

Interesting game for Vad II. Iványi Zoltán was kept very busy in the VAR bus.

Feisty first half during which MOL Fehérvár edged it. They were also the more disciplined team. Dzsudzsák can whinge as much as he likes, both yellow cards were correct and he has no-one to blame for his red card but himself. He was ill disciplined and unprofessional. He had a warning in between the 2 yellows that he chose not to heed. Let himself and his team down. Following his red card, one of the DVSC players (Bárány Donát I believe) did an embarrassing “fall” in the box – nearest player was 3 feet away! The fact he even appealed for a penalty… Missed yellow card for me – he should have been booked for simulation.

2nd half was entertaining. Neither team really doing enough to win it but credit has to go to DVSC who kept going despite being a man down. Lots of drama – Bárány appeared to put Loki ahead on 49 mins but his goal was disallowed for offside after VAR review, Kodro then seemed to have put Vidi ahead less than 10 mins later but VAR again ruled the goal out for offside. Still 0-0. Just as it looked as if this would be the final score, Vad II gave Loki a penalty for handball – VAR upheld the decision – it was clear cut. 10 men Loki taking the lead with 5 mins of normal time left. Then up popped VAR again – this time for a possible penalty to Vidi – Baráth shown on the replays to have kicked the back of the Vidi players ankle – Vad II carried out an OFR & duly awarded the penalty he had missed in real time. 1-1!

Decent overall from Vad II. Missed yellow for me at the end of the 1st half but that's very subjective. There was a spell early in the 2nd half where he looked to be losing control of the game but he got it back under control. Loki's penalty was clear cut - player's arm not in a natural position. The missed penalty - it was not obvious in real time.  Both players went for the ball, both had their feet up high. It took replays and a view from a different angle to be able to spot that the Loki player had kicked his opponent & not the ball. Not one he could have seen in real time, imo.

ZTE 2-0 MTK Budapest - Referee: Andó-Szabó Sándor

That's 90 mins of my life lost... YAWN! At least Andó-Szabó Sándor wore black!

Paks v Ferencváros - Referee: Bognár Tamás (black - shirt)

The first 20 odd mins were a tale of VAR. Tokmac put the ball in the net 2 mins in, AR2 Buzás Balázs had his flag up though & a 2-3 min VAR review confirmed no goal – offside. It was a very tight call, literally mm in it so no surprise at the length of the review. Rather VAR take a bit longer, look at every angle & get the call right, than try and rush it & get it wrong. Too tight to call by the naked eye. Next up was a penalty shout for Paks. VAR correctly confirming no handball within the current LOTG. Paks thought they had taken the lead a couple of minutes later, only to have VAR rule it out for offside. Clever move from a short corner but Balogh was offside when the cross in was played. Thoroughly entertaining game. Both teams having their chances. VAR reminded us it was there at the end of the half as well! Tokmac given a yellow card on 45+3. for simulation, there was also a VAR review for a possible penalty. OFR by referee Bognár Tamás, penalty awarded and yellow card to Tokmac withdrawn. Mmaee Ryan putting Fradi 1-0 up with the last kick of the half.

For a while the 2nd half felt like a bit of an anti climax although was still entertaining! Kinyik equalising for Paks on 63. Fradi responded well, re-claiming the lead just 3 mins later with a quality goal from Mmaee Ryan. Szélpál saw red on 73, Kinyik following him into the book for dissent as he protested the red. Fradi increased their lead from the resulting free kick. Laidouni finding the net. Ferencváros move into top spot.

Game handled well by Bognár & his team. Busy one for Berke in his 2nd outing as VAR & I'm sure a good one from a learning perspective. He did well and handled all the incidents but I'm sure he breathed a sigh of relief come the final whistle. Tamás was virtually invisible on the pitch, in between all the VAR reviews when the camera was pointed right at him. Both teams liked him and respected him.

MTK Budapest 0-1 Puskás Akadémia
Referee: Karakó Ferenc (Red shirt)

MTK’s impatience with rookie coach Giovanni Costantino saw him sacked after the defeat to ZTE in Round 8, it made no difference, they still lost! They showed a similar impatience with Tamás Feczkó after a poor start to the spring in season 18/19 and ended up getting relegated that season. They need to appoint a full time coach quickly, they looked disjointed and their discipline has slipped so the sooner they appoint a new coach and bring some stability the better. Not one of Felcsúts better games either to be fair, but you still saw from flashes of what they are capable of. Hornyak is a good coach, he has them set up well and today was a workman performance. Not at their best but defended well and ground out a win. They will be concerned with the injury to Tóth Balázs who has been superb in goal for them this season so far. He looked in a lot of pain as he went off deep in injury time with a shoulder injury. MTK did manage to get on the scoresheet however the goal was correctly ruled out for offside. A VAR check taking place whilst the medics tended to Tóth Balázs.  Decent outing for Mr Karakó

Gyirmót 2-1 Paks
Referee: Andó-Szabó Sándor (black shirt)

The biggest highlight of this game is the Croatian Ikic Frane is the only non Hungarian on the pitch when the game starts. Kosovan Hasani Florent is the only non Hungarian substitute. Love this. Entertaining first half – both teams battling it out cleanly and very sportingly. Gyirmót taking the lead on 24. with a goal from Simon András, they had another couple of good chances but good defending and a weak shot meant they didn’t capitalise on them. Only 1 real chance for Paks in the first half. A special mention for the Paks drummers – noisy, rhythmic and just never stop! Entertaining 2nd half – one incident of note – Nagy Patrik wrongly booked on 58. Absolutely shameful gamesmanship from Tamás Olivér. Hang your head in shame! His manager was not best pleased with him and subbed him straight off. Not a situation where VAR can intervene. Overall a fantastic game to watch & a well fought win for Gyirmót.

Ferencváros 1-2 ZTE
Referee: Farkas Ádám (black shirt)

The game set off at a blistering pace, ZTE having the most of the early play and were rewarded in the 8th min when they took the lead through a Serafimov goal. Koszta doubling the lead on 23. A few mins later we witnessed the 2nd fall of the day – wasn’t as blatant as Oliver’s ‘effort’ in the early game but… VAR review for a possible penalty for Fradi confirmed it was a dive & Mak Róbert was given a yellow card for simulation. Vécsei scored an absolute peach of a goal on the stroke of half time to keep Fradi in it. Vécsei was about 25m from goal, to the left when he received the pass from Tokmac and put it in the top right corner. 2nd half another VAR review for a possible penalty, not given & another yellow card for simulation for Mmaee Ryan this time. The replays showed the ZTE defender had lightly brushed again Mmaee’s foot, barely enough to be felt let alone to cause him to go down like a sack of spuds! 68th min it all went a bit mad, VAR review for a penalty for Fradi, Farkas Ádám doing an OFR – penalty given for handball. Serafimov Nikola booked for the handball. Mmaee Ryan with a dreadful effort at taking the penalty, saved by Demjén Patrik. A further VAR review to ensure he was on his line when the kick was taken. Superb game of football & credit must go to ZTE for a never say die attitude. Waltner got his tactics spot on today. 1st home defeat for Fradi in 82 games - that is a huge stat!

MOL Fehérvár 2-1 Budapest
Referee: Berke Balázs (black shirt)
VAR: Solymosi Péter

Another game another instance of play acting – Lukic Nenad yellow carded on 31 for an elbow. There was some contact around the chest area yet the Vidi player went down like a sack of spuds holding his face… Shame it wasn’t in the penalty area or he’d have been shown up for what he is – an embarrassment. Wasn’t something VAR could review unfortunately. Too many players have been watching the premier league and learning the wrong things! That said Vidi worthy of their half time lead – absolute cracker of a goal by Zivzivadze. Mental but entertaining 2nd half. Vidi doubling their lead before Kispest pulled one back. Eppel made his presence known, came on as sub on 78., booked within 30 seconds and then had a goal chalked off by VAR for offside on 90! Absolutely mental scenes at the final whistle – Nono, Batik Bence and Baráth Botond all booked for dissent and someone from the Kispest bench – off of camera view given a red card. I believe Zsolt Lázár – fitness coach. Shameful loss of discipline. Vidi deserving of the win – Kispest need to take a long hard look at their behaviour & lack of discipline.

Kisvárda Master Good 0-0 Újpest
Referee: Pintér Csaba (black shirt)

Kisvárda fans paid tribute to a local 5 year old girl who died this week in Szabolcs. Holding a banner with “ANNÁCSKA!” up high for the first 5 minutes of the game. RIP little one

On the pitch – the first half was a bit cagey. Ötvös Bence forcing a save from Banai Dávid around the 30 min mark. Újpest broke away on the left, Driton Camaj brought down Katona Mátyás just outside the penalty box, red card – DOGSO. Felt a bit of a harsh decision, although was correct in law. Mitrovic Nikola unable to convert the resulting free kick. Navratil Jaroslav forced a save from Banai Dávid near the end of the half. 0-0 at half time. 2nd half was entertaining enough. Plenty of play by both teams but nothing really penetrating the box. As things stand Újpest’s 110 years in the top flight is seriously in jeopardy, rooted to the bottom of the table 5 points from safety You have to question how much longer they will persevere with Michael Oenning. He’s a decent coach but is simply not working out at Újpest. Shameful that they did not put any pressure on a team a man down for an hour.

Pintér Csaba was his usual reliable self. Did what was needed in his quiet, understated way.

Mezőkövesd Zsóry 1-0 DVSC
Referee: Bogár Gergő (red shirt)

Nice to see Supka Attila back in a technical area. No snazzy waistcoat today, just a plain black one. The game was entertaining, lots of pretty play from both sides but very little in terms of shots. Impact sub Drazic Stefan making the difference, scoring the only goal of the game 10 mins after coming on sub. Welcome back Supka Attila. Loki need to find a way to turn their pretty game into winning points.

I assume team ref were all present & correct - barely saw them! One of the easiest games they will ever have to referee!
