Not an NB1 post, as such - roll on 2nd Feb! The NB1 is back for the spring season then!!!

This weekend just gone though was the Sip Mester Fesztival/Ski Master Festival.  What a wonderful event this is.  It happens every January and is a football tournament where all of the counties enter teams of referees to actually play instead of referee. It's held indoors and is a small sided game, I think 9 v 9.  The counties are placed into groups and play x amount of games, gradually progressing to the final. It is designed as a social event with county level referees coming together to get to know each other and generally socialise with the football as an added part of the fun. On the last day the professional referees enter a team as well and play against the county directors! Can you imagine being the poor guy who gets to referee that one - 7 professional referees v 7 referee assessors!!! They drew 3-3!! The professional referees team was Péter Solymosi in goal, Viktor Kassai, Csaba Pintér, Ádám Farkas, Ferenc Karakó, József Erdös, Bálazs Berke, Zoltán Iványi and Gergő Bogár. I'm not sure if the pro refs refereed the games during the tournament but what a lovely idea it is. Gábor Erös was also in attendance, much to bmb jr's delight.
