Sam Allison might as well move to Lancashire!

Fleetwood last Saturday, Wigan on Tuesday and Morecambe tomorrow.

I assume was seen as a genuine attempt to play ball (so yellow card) as opposed to good tackle?

It's nice to see a referee with a "proper" job and not some comfy County FA Referees' Development role.

He's a very decent referee too.

What's his line of work?

Mr Allison was highly thought of in his NL days, but then seemed to lose his way a bit. Not seen him in action since his promotion to the FL list.

As already stated, it's Fireman Sam. The first black FL referee since Uriah Rennie.

Older than most "new" referees, he actually had a decent playing career at semi-pro level.

I'm not sure how or when you think he "lost his way". It took four years to get through Conference/National League level which is not unusual for those who do not fit the profile for young, fast-tracked, often County FA crony, candidates.

I saw him in action a couple of times when Tranmere in the NL, though missed the 0-0 at Torquay when we finished with 9 men. He was well thought of then, so thought he might have been promoted sooner. As you say others have progressed through the rankings quicker.

First referee to 100 Yellow cards this season: Charles Breakspear.  Who would have thought?!

He hasn’t been as fluent in thrusting out his red card in recent times, perhaps he is mellowing?

Good to hear that there was a tribute before the Bolton v Cambridge game last night on the 75th anniversary of the Burnden Park tragedy when 33 fans were crushed to death during the Bolton v Stoke FA cup tie. Often known as the 'forgotten tragedy', it is good that it was remembered 75 years on. RIP.

A couple of really good appointments for John Busby here, especially his Tuesday night one. Here’s hoping his recent injury is fully recovered - possibly a contender for SG2??

Quite surprised to see David Rock with our trip to Portsmouth on Tuesday night live in front of the Sky cameras - not an official I’ve seen before so here’s hoping it is successful for him!

And congratulations to Simon Mather - an EFL debut at Harrogate. It’s been a few seasons IIRC since FL trial games were used so this could be a sign of their return or just under current circumstances with less opportunities in the NL. Either way, good luck to him. Here’s hoping it goes well!

I saw David Rock at Crewe v Cambridge last season in L2, one of his earliest games on the FL. A slightly older looking chap than some newbies, I was not impressed. The Crewe red card was contentious after 20 mins, but the penalty award which ultimately gave Cambridge a 2-3 win was one of the worst I've ever seen, Ng clearly playing the ball and not touching the opponent. I imagine David has improved since then.
He had a good game at Lincoln last night was an easy game though

Having seen a fair bit of both teams over the last couple of years, they are not two that I'd have picked for an "easy game". Perhaps he made it easy.

I'd seen David Rock many times in his non-league career and he was, for me, an outstanding official if the two teams wanted to play football. If he had a problem it was with "difficult" teams.
I saw David Rock referee last night at Portsmouth v Sunderland Both appeals Not Penaltys. Strange thing is Portsmouth Manager,Kenny Jackett blamed the Decisions on the Referee, and not his teams Terrible performance. He knows he will be going soon so The alternative is to blame the Officials as Usual.Man Up and play the game. Strange thing is they don't moan when the decision is given to them!

As a Posh fan, thought John Busby was good last night. Spot on with the red card (both yellow card offences), it was good to see a referee actually issue a caution when deserved early in the game. The penalty was certainly correct as well. Based on the performance and appointment i can imagine he is having a good season.
