I was half expecting a SG2 ref for the top of the table clash in L2 between Crewe and Exeter. Instead we have Ross Joyce. I've seen him before and didn't rate him particularly highly. Hoping to see better at Gresty Road on Saturday and Crewe at the top of L2 by 5pm.  ;D

A good game for newbie Will Finnie at the top of L1 at Wycombe. Based on my recent viewing of him at Gresty Road, I think he's going places.

Woolmer with a nice trip to the wet and windy south west. Decent game for Busby and Kettlewatch at Walsall.

Mr Woolmer graces Home Park this weekend, mustn't of been down here for a long time. Championship linesman also, although Pottage is a regular nowadays. It is likely to be a grudge match after last season's "goal" but I am not sure the SG2 officials are needed, wasn't expecting them until the Derby in a few weeks.

He had a very decent game at Donny v Peterborough the other week. Maybe he is over the problems he had at the end of last season.

He's now shown 7 red cards this season and we're only in October.

It's unfathomable how Breakspear is producing so many reds. Surely it simply cannot be that he is unlucky or coincidental that the games he officiates ends up with the paying customer having to watch a game that's not 11 a side.

The only official in the past who comes close to this is a certain bloke called Parker from Preston.

Paul Marsden, Oh dear, One of the poorest examples of officiating I have ever witnessed........

Player down holding his head, stops the game restarts it by giving it to team in possession.  [Correct]
Player down holding his head, waves play on only letting trainer on when ball went out of play.  [Not Correct]
Player down holding his head, ball already out for a corner, restarts play by giving ball to goalkeeper. [I give up!]

No goals, few stoppages but added 8 minutes extra time, but did not even worn anyone for time wasting.

Made a player leave the field after treatment although he booked the player who fouled him.
Let a player back on the field when the ball was 10 yards away, allowing him to win the ball from player from behind!

Booked a player for pulling back an opponent.
Did not book the next player to pull back an opponent.

I could go on.

P.S. Red card correct.

I was pleased to see an experienced referee in Carl Boyeson appointed to Fleetwood vs Ipswich.  Bizarrely he decided not to award Ipswich two penalties for clear cut fouls.  On the third appeal he did award a penalty but that was missed rather woefully.  His experience did count in a couple of flash points during the game but I expected a lot better today.

I was at Port Vale today as a neutral. I felt a bit sorry for Mr Breakspear because the Morecambe player did kick out at the Port Vale player. But, it was no where near a massive kick out hurting the player. I was sat looking straight at the incident and you could see Mr Breakspear was left with no option but to show a red card but you could see he didn't want to show a red card it was a bit reluctant. Law is law I suppose but it kind of killed the game in some senses.

Mr Breakspear issues red cards more then any other official, yes, but more often then not they have been correct calls. I can't recall one of his red cards this season to of been overturned on appeal, that suggests he is doing something right. That tends to evidence the fact he is unlucky.

I've seen him once ...... I therefore recognise some of the above scenarios. He added some even worse ones for good measure.

I will be happy not to see him again, but I expect he'll turn up at Portman Road sometime soon.

You think he's unlucky ? I think he's lucky, lucky to be a League referee. Opinions eh ?

Ross also had a very good game at Gresty Road yesterday except that it was not him but Ben Toner, see appointment change. I didn't know about this beforehand but must admit I wondered whether it was Ben rather than Ross, both having similarities in appearance but Ben wearing all black boots which were in evidence yesterday. I thought Ben was really good and he seemed to have regained the authority that he was lacking at Ipswich the previous Saturday. Yellow cards were spot on. An entertaining game in front of a larger than average crowd and it was not difficult to see why both teams are near the top of L2. Let's hope that continues at Gresty Road until the end of the season.  ;D
